The Homage Present That William Draper Esquire who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Tenement with a Barn Edifices Gardens and appurts to the same belonging and two Parcels of Land called Brook Ground lying together containing by Estimation three Acres formerly the Lands of William Claverly and since of the Earl of Aylesford situate lying and being in the Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly rent of two Shillings Heriot when it –“-“- happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Died since the last Court And that Mary Nicholas of Froyle in the County of Southampton Widow is his eldest Daughter and by the Custom of this Manor his next heir Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Tenement Lands and Prem.es with their several and respective appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of Two Shillings Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the rod But her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also Present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Meadow called Little Mead by Estimation One Acre and an half with the appurts formerly the Land of the said William Claverly and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Meadow with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her second admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the rod But her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also Present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All those two Closes of Land by Estimation two Acres and an half with the appurts formerly the Lands of the said William Claverly and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Two Closes of Land with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her third admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the rod But her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also Present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Meadow lying in Churchburn Mead and one Acre lying in the Common Field called Widecroft formerly the Lands of William Claverly and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said last mentioned Meadow and once Acre lying in the Common Field with their several and respective appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her fourth admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also Present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Messuage called Wellers with all the Barns Stables Edifices Gardens Orchards and Curtilages to the said Messuage belonging And three Closes to the same belonging containing by Estimation Seven Acres and one Meadow called Newbridge Mead by estimation two acres and three Acres of Land by Estimation lying in the Common Fields called Wellcroft and one Acre of Land by estimation lying in the Common Field called Southnest and three Acres of Land lying in the Common Field called North hills and half an Acre of Meadow lying in a Common Mead called Westburn Mead and four Acres of Land by Estimation lying in the Common Fields called Neltro with the appurts formerly the Land of Joseph Hone and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of five Shillings and one penny half penny Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Messuage called Wellers several Closes of Land and Meadow Grounds with their several and respective appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of five Shillings and one Penny half penny Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her fifth admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also Present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All those four Acres of Land lying in the North hills And one Acre and an half of Land lying in Widecroft with the appurts in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of Seven pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said several Lands with their several and respective appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of Seven Pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her sixth admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Coppice or Parcel of woodground abutting on Lomepitts Lane called Paynes by Estimation Six Acres late Cobbetts of the Pound and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of One Shilling and Six pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Coppice or Parcel of Wood ground with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of One Shilling and Six pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her Seventh admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited.
The Homage also present That the said William Draper held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Close of Land called North hills containing by Estimation four Acres and an half formerly Parcel of the Land of Henry Cobbett and afterwards of Joseph Hone and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of Ten Pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And further that upon the death of the said William Draper there became Due to the Lord of this Manor One Heriot (to wit) the best living Animal and a brown Gelding was Seized accordingly for the use of the Lord of this Manor and Compounded for with Mrs. Draper Widow of the said William Draper for five Pounds and five Shillings  Whereupon also at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Mary Nicholas and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Close of Land with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Mary Nicholas her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of ten Pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Mary Nicholas Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her Eighth admittance and Seven former admittances as appears in the Margin [Fine for these Eight admittances with one in Wokeing Manor £66] She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited.

The Homage also Present That Mary Goreing who held of the Lord of the said Manor as of his said Manor to her and her Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor One Parcels of arable Land called Loompitts containing by Estimation Six Acres be the same more or less in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the Yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Died since the last Court  upon whose death there became due and ought to have been Seized to the use of the Lord of the said Manor a Heriot to with the best living animal but the said Mary Goreing at the time of her Death had not any living animal And that the said Mary Goreing in and by her last Will and Testament bearing date the Fifth day of April one thousand seven hundred and Sixty five after a recital of her having Surrendered the same to the use of her Will Devised the same Premises In the manner following “ I also Give and Devise to my Niece Jane Collyer one other of the Daughters of my said late Sister Elizabeth Collyer and to her heirs and Assigns All that Parcell of Copyhold arable Land called Lomepitts containing by estimation Six acres more or less Situate lying and being in the Parish of Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor of Bisley” Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came the said Jane Collyer and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Parcel of Land called Loompitts with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Jane Collyer her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of four Pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Jane Collyer Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her admittance as appears in the Margin [£5 10s] She is admitted Tenant thereof Hath Seizin by the rod But her Fealty is respited. And because it appears to this Court that the said Jane Collyer is under the age of twenty one years Viz.t of the age of Nine Years or thereabouts the Custody as well of the Person of the said Jane Collyer as of the said Estate of the said Jane Collyer is granted to James Collyer her Father until the said Jane Collyer shall attain the said Age of twenty one years He the said James Collyer keeping and observing the customs of the said Manor in all things and keeping the Prem.es in good repair and rendring an Account thereof to the said Infant when she shall attain the said age of twenty one years And the said James Collyer is admitted Guardian accordingly.

The Homage also Present That the said Mary Goreing also held of the Lord of the said Manor as of his said Manor to her and her Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Parcel of Copyhold Land called Wheat Leaz with the appurts containing by Estimation Ten Acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the Yearly rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And also Died seized thereof And that the said Mary Goreing likewise held of the Lord of the said Manor as of his said Manor to her and her Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor One Close of Land containing by Estimation two Acres be the same more or less called or known by the name of Loompitts Close or Brick Kiln Close Situate lying and being in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley by the Yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And likewise Dyed seized thereof And that the said Mary Goreing in and by her last Will and Testament bearing date the Fifth day of April one thousand seven hundred and Sixty five after a recital of her having Surrendered the same to the use of her Will Devised the same Premises In the manner following “ Now I do hereby Give and Devise unto my Niece Ann Collyer the Daughter of my late Sister Elizabeth the Wife of James Collyer and to her heirs and Assigns All that Parcell of Copyhold Land called Wheat Leaz with the appurtenances Containing by estimation Ten acres be the same more or less And also All that one Close of Copyhold Land called Lomepitts Close or Brick Kiln Close with the appurts containing by Estimation two Acres more or less Situate lying and being in Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor of Bisley” Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came the said Ann Collyer and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Parcel of Land called Wheat Leaz with the appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Ann Collyer her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of four Pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Ann Collyer Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her admittance as hereafter mentioned She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the rod but her Fealty is respited. And because it appears to this Court that the said Ann Collyer is under the age of twenty one years Viz.t of the age of twelve Years or thereabouts the Custody as well of the Person of the said Ann Collyer as of the said Estate of the said Ann Collyer is Granted to James Collyer her Father until the said Ann Collyer shall attain the said Age of twenty one years He the said James Collyer keeping and observing the customs of the said Manor in all things and keeping the Prem.es in good repair and rendring an Account thereof to the said Infant when she shall attain the said age of twenty one years And the said James Collyer is admitted Guardian accordingly. And whereupon also at this Court upon the first Proclamation came again the said Ann Collyer and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Parcel of Land with the appurts called Loompitts Close or Brick kiln Close To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Ann Collyer her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly rent of two Pence Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said Ann Collyer Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her said first and this second Admittance as appears in the margin [£8] She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the rod but her Fealty is respited. And the Custody also of this Estate of the said Ann Collyer is also Granted to the said James Collyer her Father until the said Ann Collyer shall attain the said Age of twenty one years He the said James Collyer keeping and observing the customs of the said Manor in all things and keeping the Prem.es in good repair and rendring an Account thereof to the said Infant when she shall attain the said age of twenty one years He the said James Collyer having been admitted her Guardian as aforesaid.

 

At this Court came John Hone of Bisley in the County of Surry Gentleman One of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor in his proper person and in open Court Did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said Steward by the rod according to the Custom of the said Manor All and every his Copyhold or Customary Messuages or Tenements Lands and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever and held of the said Manor To the use and behoof of such Person or Persons and for such Estate and Estates therein and to and for such use or uses as he the said John Hone hath or shall in and by his last Will and Testament in writing Give Devise Direct Will Limit declare or appoint the same.

The Homage also Present that the above named William Draper did since the last Court (to wit) the Sixth Day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty four Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the then Steward All the above mentioned Eight copyhold or Customary Tenements To the use of John Goodbody of Ockham in the County of Surrey Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever All which said Prem.es were then in the Occupation of William Clues his undertenants or assigns Subject to a Provisoe for making the said Surrender void if the said William Draper his heirs Executors Admors or assigns should and did well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John Goodbody his Executors Admors or Assigns the full Sum of three Hundred Pounds with Interest for the same after the rate of four Pounds and ten Shillings for the hundred by the year of lawful money of Great Britain at or upon the Thirtieth Day of June next ensuing the date thereof without any Deduction or abatement to be made or taken out of the same on any account whatsoever That then the said Surrender to be void. or else be and remain in full force and Virtue.
[Margin Note:  Memd.m That on the 22 Day of January 1767 John Goodbody in this Surrender Named Did acknowledge That he was paid by Mrs. Mary Nicholas Daughter & heir of William Draper in this Surrender also named the Sum of Three hundred twenty eight Pounds fourteen Shillings and Nine Pence in full for Principal & Int. on this Mortge and by a Warrant under his hand of the same date did empower Me to enter Satisfaction accordingly. The Homage also Present that Henry Hammond or Pirbright in the County of Surry Gentleman and Marey his Wife one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor (the said Marey having been first Separately examined by the then Steward of the Courts of the said Manor and Consented thereto) Did since the last Court to wit on the twenty second Day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of the then Steward All and every the Customary Messuages Lands Tenements and heredits of the said Marey Situate lying and being within and held by Copy of Court Roll of the said Manor To the Use and behoof of such Person or Persons And for such Estate and Estates as she the said Marey the Wife of the said Henry Hammond should in and by her last Will and Testament in writing or any Instrument in Writing purporting so to be Give Devise Limit Direct or appoint the same and to and for no other use or uses intent or purpose whatsoever.

The Homage also Present That the above named Mary Goreing Did since the last Court to wit on the fifth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of the then Steward All and every the Customary Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments with their respective appurts of the said Mary Goreing Situate lying and being within and held by Copy of Court Roll of the said Manor To the Use and behoof of such Person or Persons and for such Estate and Estates as she the said Mary Goreing should in and by her last Will and Testament in writing or any Instrument in Writing purporting so to be Give Devise Limit direct or appoint the same and to and for no other use or uses intent or purpose whatsoever.

At this Court came Henry Pritchett One of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and Surrendered into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said Steward by the rod according to the Custom of the said Manor A Cottage Turf House and Garden thereunto belonging formerly Henry Carters abutting on the Common on the North and East parts and the Lands formerly Thomas Morlens on the West and South Situate and being in the Parish of Bisley and within the said Manor To the Use and behoof of William Stovall of Bisley aforesaid Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever Whereupon at this Court came the said William Stovall and Humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Cottage Turf house and Garden with their appurts To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said William Stovall his Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor By the Yearly rent of ________ [6d] Heriot when it happens suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And the said William Stovall Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the margin [10s] he is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and did Fealty to the Lord.

At this Court came Ann Washbourne of Queen Street in the Park Southwark in the County of Surrey eldest Sister and by the Custom of this Manor Heir of Thomas Washbourne deceased only Son and heir of Thomas Washbourne deceased whose death was Presented at a Court held for this Manor on the Fifteenth Day of October One thousand Seven hundred and fifty five and Humbly Prayed to be Admitted to One moiety or half part of All those three Closes of Land formerly four Closes called Brizes containing by Estimation four Acres more or less with the appurts lying and being in the Parish and Manor of Bisley heretofore in the Tenure of George Rempnant Junior and since of Moses Evered To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Ann Washbourne her Heirs and Assigns for ever By Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor By the Yearly rent of four Pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore due and of right accustomed And the said Ann Washbourne Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her Admittance as appears in the margin [£3.15s] She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod but her Fealty is respited. And because it appears to this Court that the said Ann Washbourne is under the age of twenty one years Viz.t of the age of fourteen Years or thereabouts the Custody as well of the Person of the said Ann Washbourne as of the s.d Estate of the said Ann Washbourne is granted to Moses Evered until the said Ann Washbourne shall attain the said Age of twenty one years He the said Moses Evered keeping and observing the customs of the said Manor in all things and keeping the Premises in good repair and rendring an account thereof to the said Infant when she shall attain the said age of twenty one years And the said Moses Evered is admitted her Guardian accordingly.
