The Homage Present a certain surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the sixth day of November instant Whereby Sarah Hill Widow and John Hill her son Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod according to the Custom of the said Manor and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward All that Messuage or Tenement with the Outhouses Gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate within this Manor heretofore in the possession of John Towers since of John Stiles and now of the said Sarah Hill To the only proper use and behoof of John Edwards of Bisley aforesaid Husbandman his heirs and assigns for ever and to on other use intent or purpose whatsoever Whereupon the said John Edwards being present here in Court in his proper person prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said messuage and premises with the appurtenances in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said John Edwards his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of Fourpence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in manner aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£3 5s] and his Fealty was respited.
And immediately after such the admission of him the said John Edwards He the said John Edwards being still in Court in his proper person Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All that the said Messuage or Tenement with the Outhouses Gardens and appurtenances to which he had immediately before been admitted and all his Estate right title and interest therein and thereto To the only use and behoof of James Steadman of the Parish of Horsell in the County of Surrey Nurseryman his heirs and assigns for ever Provided always Nevertheless that if the said John Edwards his heirs executors or administrators do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Steadman his executors administrators or assigns the full sum of Forty Pounds with lawful interest for the same on the eleventh day of May next ensuing the date hereof Then this Surrender to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
