Bisley Manor Court Roll 30 May 1873
At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Friday the Thirtieth day of May in the Thirty sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and seventy three Before Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Steward there.
Absolute Surrender Sarah Marshall to Edward Esdale Clark and Marshall Pontifex
At this Court came here into Court Edward Esdale Clark of Snaith in the West Riding of Yorkshire Gentleman by Marshall Pontifex his Attorney and the said Marshall Pontifex of Saint Andres Street Holborn in the City of London Gentleman in his proper person and delivered a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court to wit on the Twenty third day of May One thousand eight hundred and seventy three whereby Sarah Marshall one of the Copyhold or Customary tenants of the said Manor in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and thirty pounds four shillings and four pence of lawful English money to her paid by the said Edward Esdale Clark and Marshall Pontifex did surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward according to the custom of the said Manor All that Messuage Tenement Barn Stable Granary and other outbuildings thereunto belonging and All those several pieces or parcels of arable meadow and coppice land situate and being in the parish of Bisley and which by a late admeasurement made on the Tithe apportionment Thirty five acres three roods and thirteen perches being all the copyhold land which forms part of the farm called or known by the name of BullRowzen Farm to which said premises the [said] Sarah Marshall was admitted Tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the Twelfth day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty six To the only proper use and behoof of the said Edward Esdale Clark and Marshall Pontifex their heirs and assigns for ever

And thereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here again into Court the said Edward Esdale Clark by his said Attorney and the said Marshal Pontifex in his own proper person and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said Messuage or Tenement Barn Stable Granary and other outbuildings thereunto belonging and All those several pieces or parcels of arable meadow and coppice land situate and being in the parish of Bisley and which by a late admeasurement were computed to contain Thirty four acres two roods and six perches (be the same more or less) but by the admeasurement made on the Tithe apportionment Thirty five acres three roods and thirteen perches being all the copyhold land which forms part of the farm called or known by the name of Bull Rowzen Farm in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same To hold to them the said Edward Esdale Clark and Marshal Pontifex their heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Eight shillings Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so the said Edward Esdale Clark and Marshal Pontifex were admitted Tenants of the said premises accordingly gave to the Lord as a fine for such their admittance as appears in the margin [1st life £67 10s 2nd life £33 15s = £101 5s] and their fealty was respited.
