At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor there held for the said Manor on Wednesday the twenty third day of May in the twenty ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty six Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Courts of the said Manor.

Thomas Baxter Intestacy
At this Court came here into Court in his proper person Francis Baxter of Saint Martins Stamford in the County of Northampton Veterinary Surgeon and informed the said Steward that Thomas Baxter whose death was presented at a General Court Baron held for this Manor on the thirtieth day of May One thousand eight hundred and sixty four departed this life on the Ninth day of April One thousand eight hundred and sixty four intestate and that he the said Francis Baxter is the eldest Son and Heir at law of the said Thomas Baxter deceased according to the custom of this Manor.
Admittance of Francis Baxter
And afterwards at this Court upon the third proclamation came again into Court the said Francis Baxter and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to All that copyhold close or parcel of arable land situate at Bisley aforesaid containing by estimation Five acres and seven perches more or less formerly in the occupation of Joseph Bedford afterwards of Stephen Steptoe and then of James Hill Stephen Steptoe and James Bedford which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Thomas Baxter together with the messuage or tenement thereon erected and built and late in the occupation of Thomas Baxter deceased which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Thomas Baxter To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Francis Baxter his heirs and assigns for ever (subject nevertheless to a certain Conditional Surrender of the said premises made by the said Thomas Baxter to the Reverend Thomas Hockley of Horley Vicarage Isle of Wight Clerk on the twenty third of February One thousand eight hundred and sixty one for securing the sum of One hundred pounds and interest) by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Fourpence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid his fine was set at Nineteen pounds to be paid to the Steward aforesaid at his Office in Guildford in the County of Surrey for the use of the Lord of the said Manor on or before the thirtieth day of May instant and his fealty was respited.
