At the General Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor there held for the said Manor on Monday the eleventh day of May and in the Twenty sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and sixty three Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward there.

Will of James Searle
The Homage aforesaid being Sworn and charged on their Oath present that James Searle whose death was presented at a General Court Baron held for this manor on the tenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty one duly made and published his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the seventeenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven (the Probate whereof was produced and read in open Court) Whereby he devised as follows “I give devise and bequeath all my messuages lands Tenements hereditaments and premises and all my stock in Trade monies securities debts chattels and effects and generally all my real and personal Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of which I may die seized and possessed unto and to the use of my Wife Ann Searl Henry Searle of the parish of Chobham in the County of Surrey and George Dean of the said parish of Chobham Farmer their heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively according to the true nature of the said Estates respectively Upon Trust at their discretion either to carry on or to permit my said Wife Ann Searle during the term of her natural life or so long as she shall continue my Widow unmarried to carry on my business of a Farmer at Bisley aforesaid and in the way I now carry on the same and to employ for that purpose such part of my real and personal Estate as shall constitute the Capital employed therein at my decease with any additional Capital which my said Trustees shall think requisite and subject to the trusts aforesaid and from and immediately after the decease or marrying again of my said Wife which shall first happen I declare that the Trustees and Trustee for the time being of this my Will shall stand and be seized and possessed of all my real and personal Estate Upon Trust to convey and assign the same unto my son James Rempnant Searle his heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively to and for his and their own absolute use and benefit”
Admittance of the Devisees of James Searle
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in their own proper persons the said Ann Searle Henry Searle and George Dean and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenants to All that Messuage or Tenement with the Edifices buildings barn stable garden and orchard thereunto belonging And also all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Orchard field and containing by estimation two acres be the same more or less And also All that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Ford Mead and containing by estimation three acres and an half And also All that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Coneybury field containing by estimation three acres together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same messuage or Tenement piece or parcels of land belonging situate lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said manor Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of James Searle To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Ann Searle Henry Searle and George Dean their heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of three shillings and three pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so they were admitted Tenants thereof in form aforesaid The fine to the Lord for such their admittance was set on the first life at Thirty pounds on the second life at Fifteen pounds and on the third life at seven pounds and ten shillings and the Lord of this manor out of his special grace and favor and for divers considerations him thereunto moving remitted to the said Trustees the fines on the second and third lives and they gave to the Lord accordingly the sum of Thirty pounds on the first life and their fealties were respectively pardoned and respited.
Death of Isaac Gosden
The Homage aforesaid do present that Isaac Gosden late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said manor certain pieces or parcels of land within the manor but which under the Award of the Commissioners Appointed to enclose the Common fields within the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey were taken from the said Isaac Gosden and other lands Awarded and Allotted unto the said Isaac Gosden in lieu thereof and which allotment is described in the said Award as containing six acres one rood and thirty three perches situate and being in Wincot Common field And also All that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Palmers field and containing by estimation one acre and an half All which premises are held by the yearly rent of three shillings and three pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs Died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a heriot to wit the best live beast of the said Isaac Gosden became due to the Lord of this manor and that a horse was seized and compounded for at twenty pounds And the Homage also present that Isaac Gosden is the only son and heir at Law of the said Isaac Gosden deceased
Admittance of Isaac Gosden
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Isaac Gosden the Son and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that piece or parcel of land which under the Award of the Commissioners Appointed to enclose the Common fields within the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey was awarded and allotted unto the said Isaac Gosden in lieu of and for all his lands grounds rights of Common and all other his rights property and interest Copyhold of the said Manor of Bisley in over and upon the said lands and grounds agreed to be divided and enclosed and which allotment is described in the said Award as follows that is to say “All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing six acres one rood and thirty three perches situate and being in Wincot Common field aforesaid and bounded on the North West by the said allotment hereinbefore awarded to the said John Mersh and numbered 15 on the said Inclosure Plan And also by old inclosed land belonging to William Tringham Esquire on the North East by the allotment hereinafter awarded to William Tringham and numbered 22 on the same plan on the South by the allotment hereinafter awarded to George Henry Downes and numbered respectively 18.19. 20 on the same plan and on the West by the said road leading from Guildford to Bisley which allotment last hereinbefore described is numbered 17 on the said plan And the hedges ditches mounds and fences on so much of the North West side thereof as abuts on the said allotment numbered 15 on the said plan shall be made and for ever thereafter maintaining and kept in repair by and at the expense of the said Isaac Gosden and the owner and owners for the time being of such allotment” And also All that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Palmers field and containing by estimation one acre and an half within this manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of the said Isaac Gosden the father To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Isaac Gosden the Son his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of three shillings and three pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£16] and his fealty was respited.
Conditional Surrender Isaac Gosden to William Buckingham
And afterwards at this Court came here again into Court in his proper person the said Isaac Gosden and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English Value and Currency to him paid by William Buckingham of Knaphill in the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Gentleman Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid According to the Custom of the said manor All that piece or parcel of land which under the award All that piece or parcel of land which under the Award of the Commissioners Appointed to enclose the Common fields within the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey was awarded and allotted unto Isaac Gosden in lieu of and for all his lands grounds rights of Common and all other his rights property and interest Copyhold of the said Manor of Bisley in over and upon the said lands and grounds agreed to be divided and enclosed and which allotment is described in the said Award as follows that is to say “All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing six acres one rood and thirty three perches situate and being in Wincot Common field aforesaid and bounded on the North West by the said allotment hereinbefore awarded to the said John Mersh and numbered 15 on the said Inclosure Plan And also by old inclosed land belonging to William Tringham Esquire on the North East by the allotment hereinafter awarded to William Tringham and numbered 22 on the same plan on the South by the allotment hereinafter awarded to George Henry Downes and numbered respectively 18.19 and 20 on the same plan and on the West by the said road leading from Guildford to Bisley which allotment last hereinbefore described is numbered 17 on the said plan And the hedges ditches mounds and fences on so much of the North West side thereof as abuts on the said allotment numbered 15 on the said plan shall be made and for ever thereafter maintaining and kept in repair by and at the expense of the said Isaac Gosden and the owner and owners for the time being of such allotment” And also All that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Palmers field and containing by estimation one acre and an half to All which said premises he the said Isaac Gosden had at this Court immediately before been admitted To the use and Behoof of the said William Buckingham his heirs and assigns for ever according to the Custom of the said Manor Upon Condition Nevertheless to be void if the said Isaac Gosden his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William Buckingham his executors administrators or assigns the full sum of Two hundred pounds of lawful money aforesaid with interest for the same at the rate of five pounds per centum per annum on the Eleventh day of November then next ensuing”
[Margin note: Be it remembered that Thomas Sadler Kidrow of York House Woking Station in the County of Surrey Gentleman and John Stedman of Horsell in the said County Brewer the Executors of the last Will and testament of Martha Miller late of Goldsworth Villa in the parish of Woking in the said County Widow dec.ed (which said Martha Miller was at the time of her decease which occurred on the twenty seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine ????ably and beneficially entitled to and interested in the principal money and interest due and owing upon or by virtue of this Surrender) did by writing under their hands bearing date the twenty sixth day of November one thousand eight hundred and eighty one acknowledge that all principal money and interest due and owing upon or by virtue of this surrender had been duly paid off and discharged And did thereby authorize and require me to enter satisfaction of and for the said Conditional Surrender upon the Court Rolls of the said manor or otherwise to vacate the same Surrender. Death of John Lipscomb
The Homage also present that John Lipscomb late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said manor All that Barn and the land whereon a messuage formerly stood called Cowhurst and two closes called the Barn Closes containing by estimation four acres and one close called the Church Close containing by estimation three acres and one close abutting upon the Barn late of Thomas Blandell containing by estimation three acres by the yearly rent of one shilling and eight pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And also a parcel of land called Cobbetts Coppice containing by estimation two acres more or less by the yearly rent of two pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs Died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon two heriots to wit the two best live beast of the said John Lipscomb became due to the Lord of this manor and that two Oxen were seized and compounded for with his Executors at Eighteen pounds six shillings and eight pence
Will of John Lipscomb
The Homage also present that the said John Lipscomb duly made and published his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the first day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty one (the probate whereof was produced and read in open Court) Whereby he devised as follows “And as to all my freehold Copyhold and Leasehold messuages or Tenements farms lands and hereditaments and all other the real Estate whereof I may die seized or possessed or over which I may have any devising or disposing power I give devise and bequeath the same unto my Nephew James Lipscomb of Chobham in the County of Surrey Miller my friend Edward Chitty of Guildford in the said County of Surrey Miller and my Nephew John Stedman of Horsell in the said County of Surrey Malster my Executors hereinafter appointed To hold the same unto and to the use of the said James Lipscomb Edward Chitty and John Stedman their heirs executors administrators and assigns according to the several tenures and qualities thereof nevertheless upon the Trusts and for the purposes hereinafter expressed and declared of and concerning the same that is to say Upon Trust to permit my said Wife to use and occupy the farm lands and premises now in my own use or occupation free of rent for and during the term of her natural life and to pay the rents issues and profits of all other my messuages or Tenements farms lands hereditaments and real Estate unto my said Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and after the decease of my said Wife Upon Trust that they the said James Lipscomb Edward Chitty and John Stedman or the survivors or survivor of them or the heirs executors administrators or assigns of such survivor do and shall with all convenient speed after the decease of my said Wife sell and absolutely dispose of by public auction or private contract and in such manner as to them my said Trustees shall seem best All my said messuages or Tenements land hereditaments and real Estate except my Copyhold farm and lands at Bisley hereinafter devised to the said Edward Chitty And I give and devise all that my customary or Copyhold farm and lands situate in the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey and held of the Manor of Bisley from and after the decease of my said Wife unto and to the use of the said Edward Chitty his heirs and assigns for ever.”

Death of Henry Street
The Homage also present that Henry Street late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said manor A certain piece or parcel of land within this manor which under the Award of the Commissioners Appointed to enclose the Common fields within the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey was taken from the said Henry Street and other land Awarded and Allotted unto the said Henry Street in lieu thereof and which allotment is described in the said Award as containing one acres three roods and thirty two perches situate and being in Burker Common field And Also All that messuage or Tenement situate and lying in Bisley Green with the Barn Stable edifices orchard and Garden thereto belonging and two acres of land called Palmers & Anthonies and one close of land called Westwood with the appurtenances held by the yearly rent of one shilling and sixpence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs subject nevertheless and charged as in the Will of James Street is mentioned Died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a heriot to wit the best live beast of the said Henry Street became due to the Lord of this manor and that a Cow was seized and compounded for with his Executors at Eight pounds The Homage also present that __________ is the heir at Law of the said Henry Street deceased
1st Proclamation on the Death of Henry Street
Now at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at Law of the said Henry Street or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that piece or parcel of land which under the Award of the Commissioners Appointed to enclose the Common fields within the parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey was awarded and allotted unto the said Henry Street in lieu of and for all his lands grounds rights of Common and all other his right property and interest Copyhold of the said Manor of Bisley in over and upon the said lands and grounds to be divided and enclosed and which allotment is described in the said Award as follows that is to say “All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing one acre three roods and thirty two perches situate and being in Burket Common field aforesaid and bounded on the North by the said allotment hereinbefore awarded to the said Thomas Charlton and William Lowless and numbered 2 on the said Inclosure Plan in the East by Churchbourne Meadow aforesaid hereinbefore awarded to the said Joseph Hockley and numbered 23 on the same plan on the South by old inclosed land belonging to the said Henry Street and on the West by an occupation roadway leading into and forming part of the said allotment numbered 2 which allotment last hereinbefore described is numbered 31 on the said plan And the hedges ditches mounds and fences on so much of the North West side thereof as abuts on the said allotment numbered 15 on the said plan shall be made and for ever thereafter maintaining and kept in repair by and at the expense of the said Henry Street and the owner and owners for the time being of such allotment And Also All that messuage or Tenement situate and lying in Bisley Green with the Barn Stable Edifices Orchard and Garden thereto belonging and two acres of land called Palmers & Anthonies and one close of land called Westwood with the appurtenances Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Henry Street to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first proclamation and default are here inrolled
Joseph Hockley Enfranchisement
The Homage also present and it is acknowledged by the Lord by the said Steward that the Lord of this manor did by Indenture dated the twenty fifth day of March one thousand eight hundred and sixty three infranchise unto Joseph Hockley of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman All and singular the hereditaments and premises described in the Court Rolls of the said manor as “Firstly all that one Tenement with a Barn edifices Gardens and appurtenances to the same belonging and two parcels of ground called Brook ground lying together containing by estimation three acres formerly the land of William Claverley and since of the Earl of Aylesford Secondly all that one meadow called Little Mead by estimation one acre and an half with the appurtenances formerly the land of the said William Claverley and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said parish and manor Thirdly all those two closes of land by estimation two acres and an half with the appurtenances formerly the land of the said William Claverley and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said parish and manor Fourthly all that one meadow lying in Churchbourne Mead and an acre lying in the common field called Widecroft formerly the lands of the said William Claverley and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said parish and manor Fifthly all that one Messuage called Wellers with all the Barns Stables edifices gardens orchards and curtilages to the said Messuage belonging and three closes of land to the same belonging containing by estimation Seven acres and one meadow called Newbridge Mead containing by estimation Two acres and three acres of land by estimation lying in the common field called Hill Croft and one acre of land by estimation lying in the common field called South Earsh and three acres of land lying in the common field called North Hills and half an acre of meadow lying in a common field called Westbourne Mead and four acres of land by estimation lying in the common field called Neltro with the appurtenances formerly the land of Joseph Hone and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said parish and manor Sixthly all those four acres of land lying in North Hills and one acre and an half of land lying in Widecroft with the appurtenances in the said parish and manor Seventhly all that close of land called North Hills containing by estimation four acres and an half parcel of the land of Henry Cobbett and afterwards of Joseph Hone and since of the Earl of Aylesford in the said parish and manor And also All that one close of land containing by estimation two acres more or less called or known by the name of Loompits Close or Brick Kiln Close situate lying and being in parish of Bisley within the said manor” and to which hereditaments and premises the said Joseph Hockley was admitted Tenant on the eleventh day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty two respectively except such of the lands hereditaments and premises comprized in the first mentioned admissions as were taken from the said Joseph Hockley under the Award of the Commissioner for enclosing the Common fields in the parish of Bisley and in lieu thereof the lands and hereditaments awarded to the said Joseph Hockley in lieu of the hereditaments so taken as by the said award doth appear reserving nevertheless to the said Joseph Hockley his heirs and assigns all commonable rights to which he hath been entitled in respect of the said hereditaments and premises so enfranchised
Absolute Surrender William Glazier to Robert Scott Lorrain
At this Court came here into Court in his proper person William Glazier one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said manor in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and forty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to him paid by Robert Scott Lorrain of Drayton in the County of Middlesex Coalmerchant and of the further sum of One hundred and twenty pounds of lawful money aforesaid to be paid by the said Robert Scott Lorrain to Henry Roker of Godalming in the County of Surrey Miller making together the sum of Two hundred and sixty pounds and being the full consideration money for the absolute purchase of the hereditaments hereinafter mentioned Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of the Steward of the said Manor according to the Custom of the said manor All that one acre of land part of a parcel of land called Miles Grove within this manor and which said acre adjoins Miles Green on the South to the Copyhold land called Wheat Leaz on the West to other part of Miles Green on the North and to one acre other part of Miles Grove on the East Together with the messuage or Tenement now divided into two Tenements since erected and built thereon by the said William Glazier To the only proper and absolute use and Behoof of the said Robert Scott Lorrain his heirs and assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the payment of the principal sum of One hundred and twenty pounds (part of the said sum of Two hundred and sixty pounds) now due and owing to the said Henry Roker upon Mortgage of the said hereditaments and premises and the Interest henceforth to grow due for the same
Admittance of Robert Scott Lorrain
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Robert Scott Lorrain and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one acre of land part of a parcel of land called Miles Grove within this manor and which said acre adjoins Miles Green on the South to the Copyhold land called Wheat Leaz on the West to other part of Miles Green on the North and to one acre other part of Miles Grove on the East Together with the messuage or Tenement thereon erected in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Robert Scott Lorrain his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one halfpenny heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid The fine to the Lord for such his admittance was set at Eight pounds and five shillings to be paid to the Steward aforesaid at his office in Guildford for the use of the Lord of the said manor on the twenty fifth day of May instant at the hour of Twelve oclock at noon and his fealty was respited.
