The General Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor there held in and for the said Manor on Tuesday the twenty fourth day of May in the sixteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward there.

Absolute Surrender David Roake to George Drury
The Homage aforesaid being Sworn and charged on their Oath do present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the sixth day of April one thousand eight hundred and fifty three  Whereby David Roake of Guildford in the County of Surrey Tailor one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor out of Court in Consideration of the Sum of four hundred pounds to him paid by George Drury of Guildford aforesaid Auctioneer Did Surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor  All that Customary messuage or Tenement together with the Barn and other outbuildings orchards Gardens yards backsides and appurtenances thereto belonging formerly in the tenure of William Johnson or his assigns by the yearly rent of one shilling and sixpence heriot Suit of Court and other services And also all those five Closes of Copyhold Arable Meadow and Pasture Land containing by estimation Seven Acres more or less in Bisley within the said Manor by the yearly rent of one shilling heriot Suit of Court and other services Also All that messuage tenement or Cottage and one acre of Land with the appurtenances to the same adjoining in Bisley aforesaid by the yearly rent of sixpence heriot Suit of Court and other services And also a Scite of a Cottage or tenement called Vanits and one acre of Land to the same belonging with the appurtenances And also one acre of land late part of the Waste adjoining to a Close called Hassell Hill within the said Manor by the yearly rent of four pence heriot Suit of Court and other services with the appurtenances  To the only proper and absolute use and Behoof of the said George Drury his heirs and assigns for ever

Admittance of George Drury
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said George Drury and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said Customary messuage or Tenement together with the Barn and other outbuildings orchards Gardens yards backsides and appurtenances thereto belonging formerly in the tenure of William Johnson or his assigns which came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the Surrender of David Roake To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said George Drury his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one shilling and sixpence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£9] and his fealty was respited.
Admittance of the same
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court in his proper person the said George Drury and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to And also all those five Closes of Copyhold Arable Meadow and Pasture Land containing by estimation Seven Acres more or less which also came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the Surrender of David Roake To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said George Drury his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one shilling heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£16 10s] and his fealty was respited.
Admittance of the same
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court in his proper person the said George Drury and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said messuage tenement or Cottage and one acre of Land with the appurtenances to the same adjoining in Bisley aforesaid which also came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the Surrender of David Roake To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said George Drury his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of sixpence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£8] and his fealty was respited.
Admittance of the same
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court in his proper person the said George Drury and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said Scite of a Cottage or tenement called Vanits and one acre of Land to the same belonging with the appurtenances And also one acre of land late part of the Waste adjoining to a Close called Hassell Hill within the said Manor which also came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the Surrender of David Roake To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said George Drury his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of four pence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£4] and his fealty was respited.

Death of James Street
The Homage aforesaid also present that James Street late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said manor  A parcel of land called Newcotts containing by estimation four acres by the yearly rent of one shilling and sixpence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs Died since the last General Court so thereof seized Whereupon an heriot to wit the best live beast of the said James Street became due to the Lord of the said Manor but that none was seized he having no live animal at the time of his death
His Will
And the Homage further present that the said James Street duly made and published his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the eighth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty seven (the probate whereof was presented and read in open Court) Whereby he gave and devised as follows “I give and devise unto my daughter Jane Street and her heirs all that my copyhold Estate called Newcotts or Nawcotts containing by estimation four acres situate lying and being within and held of the Manor of Bisley aforesaid To hold the same unto and to the use of my said daughter Jane Street her heirs and assigns for ever”
1st Proclamation
Now at this Court the first proclamation was made for the said Jane Street or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said one parcel of Land called Newcotts which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said James Street to come into Court and take the same out of the hand of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Death of James Collyer
The Homage aforesaid also present that James Collyer late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said manor  All that piece or parcel of land late parcel of the Waste of the said Manor of Bisley lying near Riding Hill containing by estimation eighty rods more or less lately inclosed by James Hill and upon which he erected and set up a Cottage or Tenement together with the said Cottage or Tenement and the appurtenances by the yearly rent of one penny heriot Suit of Court and other services And also all that scite of a messuage and parcel of land containing by estimation one acre and an half be the same more or less late the estate of Peter Quennell deceased and before then the Estate of George Martin deceased and since of Sarah Moore lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said Manor by the yearly rent of sixpence heriot Suit of Court and other services Died since the last General Court so thereof seized Whereupon two heriots to wit the two best live beasts of the said James Collyer became due to the Lord of the said Manor but that none was seized he having no live animal at the time of his death
His Will
And the Homage further present that the said James Collyer duly made and published his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the fifth day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty (the probate whereof was produced and read in open Court) Whereby he gave and devised as follows “I likewise give and bequeath at my Decease all those Copyhold Estates that I now possess situate in the Parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey unto my said Wife Mary Collyer her Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the custom of the Manor of Bisley aforesaid”

Admittance of Mary Collyer
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in her proper person the said Mary Collyer and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that piece or parcel of land late parcel of the Waste of the said Manor lying near Riding Hill containing by estimation eighty rods more or less lately inclosed by James Hill and upon which he erected and set up a Cottage or Tenement together with the said Cottage or Tenement and the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said James Collyer To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Mary Collyer her heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one penny heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such her admittance as appears in the Margin [£6 10s] and her fealty was pardoned.
Admittance of the same
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court in her proper person the said Mary Collyer and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that scite of a messuage and parcel of Land containing by estimation one acre and an half be the same more or less late the estate of Peter Quennell before then of George Martin deceased and since then of Sarah Moore lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said James Collyer To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Mary Collyer her heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of sixpence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such her admittance as appears in the Margin [£2 5s] and her fealty was pardoned.

Conditional Surrender Mary Collyer to Edmund Vincent
And afterwards at this Court came here into Court in her proper person the said Mary Collyer and in consideration of the Sum of Thirty five pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to her paid by Edmund Vincent of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that piece or parcel of land late parcel of the Waste of the said Manor lying near Riding Hill containing by estimation eighty rods more or less lately inclosed by James Hill and upon which he erected and set up a Cottage or Tenement together with the said Cottage or Tenement and the appurtenances And also All that scite of a messuage and parcel of Land containing by estimation one acre and an half be the same more or less late the estate of Peter Quennell before then of George Martin deceased and since then of Sarah Moore lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said Manor to all which premises she the said Mary Collyer had at this Court immediately before been admitted  To the use and Behoof of the said Edmund Vincent his heirs and assigns for ever Upon Condition nevertheless to be void if the said Mary Collyer her heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Edmund Vincent his executors administrators or assigns the full Sum of Thirty five pounds of lawful money aforesaid with Interest for the same at and after the rate of five pounds Per centum per annum on the twenty fourth day of November now next ensuing.
[Margin note: Be it remembered that on the sixteenth day of February One thousand eight hundred and sixty one Jane Vincent and George White Executrix and Executor of Edmund Vincent in this Surrender named did acknowledge that they had that day had and received of and from Mary Collyer in this Surrender named All Principal and Interest Monies and all demands remaining due and owing on the above recited Surrender and the said Jane Vincent and George White did by writing under their hands of that date authorize and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter their acknowledgement of having received such satisfaction upon the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly.  Witness my Hand Joseph Hockley]

Suggestion of Sarah Lephard and George Balchin
At this Court came here into Court Sarah Lephard Widow and George Balchin by John Debenham their Attorney and suggested that the principal sum of Two hundred pounds secured by a certain Conditional Surrender bearing date the twenty seventh day of July one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine made by John Hill deceased to the late Edward Lephard still remains due and owing with an arrear of Interest thereon And further produced a Copy of the Will of the said Edward Lephard bearing date the twenty ninth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty three (which copy was now read in open Court) whereby he gave and devised as follows “ And I give and devise unto my dear Wife Sarah Lephard and my Brother in Law George Balchin of Godalming in the County of Surrey Gardener their heirs and assigns All that my freehold messuage now divided into two tenements gardens and orchards with the appurtenances situate at Plaistow in the parish of Kirdford aforesaid and all other my real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever To hold the same unto my said Wife Sarah Lephard and my said Brother in Law George Balchin their heirs and assigns for ever  In trust nevertheless for my said Wife and her assigns during her life and from and after her decease in trust for my four Children Elizabeth Edmund William and Harriet their heirs and assigns for ever in equal shares as Tenants in Common But nevertheless as to the Estate and Interest therein of my said Son Edmund charged as hereinafter mentioned and I nominate Constitute and appoint my said Wife and my said Brother in Law George Balchin Executrix and Executor of this my Will”
Admittance of Sarah Lephard and George Balchin
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court the said Sarah Lephard and George Balchin (by John Debenham their Attorney) and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that that piece or parcel of land lately inclosed from the Waste containing by estimation one acre and twenty five perches lying at Riding Hill on the South West side of a garden late of John Hill which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Surrender of the said John Hill To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Sarah Lephard and George Balchin their heirs and assigns for ever Upon the trusts nevertheless to and for the intents and purposes mentioned and declared in and by the said Will of the said Edward Lephard deceased by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one penny heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so they were admitted Tenants thereof (by their said Attorney) in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as fines for such their admittance and for the admittance of the said Edward Lephard deceased as appears in the Margin [£1 17s 6d and £2 10s] and their fealties were respited.

At this Court the Homage Consent that the Lord of the Manor may grant to Mr Richard Drewitt a small parcel of the waste of this Manor containing about eight rods adjoining to the premises purchased by him of Mr and Mrs Collyer of Knaphill and between those premises and the Road.
