The Homage present that Henry Rogers late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Manor All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Gardens Orchards Backsides Edifices and other Buildings whatsoever thereto belonging with the Appurtenances with two Closes of arable land near adjoining containing together by Estimation Six Acres more or less One other Piece or Parcel of Meadow Land containing by Estimation four acres more or less And also three closes more of arable or pasture Land lying and abutting upon some part of Bisley Green with their and every of their Appurtenances and also all that parcel of Land with the Appurtenances called Butts containing by Estimation half an acre Three acres of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft And half an acre of Meadow with the appurts lying in Churchburn Mead in Bisley aforesaid within this Manor (Save and Except all that One acre of Land lying in Widecroft within this Manor abutting West on Land belonging to Henry Street North on land belonging to John Loveland East on land belonging to the said John Loveland and South on Land belonging to James Martin which the said Henry Rogers sometime since Surrendered to and to the Use of John Loveland) And also all those two parcels of arable and one parcel of Meadow Land with the Appurtenances lying in Bisley within this Manor Died since the last Court Seized of the said several Estates And that Henry Rogers an Infant is his eldest Son and Heir according to the custom of this Manor Whereupon at this Court the first Proclamation is made If the said Henry Rogers or any other person or person you hath or have a right to be admitted to the said premises would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came Whereupon the first proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
The Homage present That George Gosden whose death was presented at the last General Court in and by his last Will and Testament bearing date the seventh day of December One thousand seven hundred and ninety two did give and devise unto Hannah his Wife All that his copyhold Estate Messuage Lands and Premises situate lying and being in the Parish and Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey for the term of her natural life And his desire was that his Seven younger Children should be made equal as near as possible and as the Eldest of them to wait till the youngest should be of full age before they have anything would be hard for which reason he gave his said Wife Hannah a discretionary power if in case any of his said seven youngest Children should be likely to get into business for their good to sell and dispose of all that his aforesaid copyhold Estate in Bisley aforesaid to the best purchase as she can procure for the same in as perfect a manner as he could himself had he been living and as to the money arising by such Sale to divide among such of his Children as should be grown up and in want so as not to exceed what should be their equal Share at last in the whole as in and by the probate of the said Will now produced in Court doth appear. Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came into Court in her proper person the said Hannah Gosden Widow and Devisee of the said George Gosden and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that Customary Messuage or Tenement One Garden One Barn and One Stable with the appurtenances in Bisley Green within the said Manor and three quarters of an Acre of Land there and four acres of Land with the appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft heretofore the Messuage and Lands of John Cobbett and Elizabeth his Wife And also to one other acre of Land with the appurtenances lying in the Common Field aforesaid And one acre of Land lying in the Common Field called Burcroft And one acre of Meadow lying in the Common Mead called Westburn Mead with their and every of their appurtenances sometime Roger Cobbetts and since the Estate of William Hewitt and formerly in the Tenure or Occupation of Absalom Knight which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said George Gosden To whom the Lord of this Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to her the said Hannah Gosden for the term of her natural life and for such Estate and Interest in the premises as are given and devised to her in and by the said Will of the said George Gosden by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ________ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And she gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her Admittance as appears in the Margin [-] She is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the rod and her Fealty is respited.
