Of the Court Baron.
At this Court upon the third Proclamation came into Court in his proper person Arthur Harding and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement with all the Lands to the same belonging in Bisley aforesaid which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of Arthur Harding his Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Arthur Harding the Son by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for this his Admittance as appears afterwards He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
Also at this Court upon the third Proclamation came again into Court in his proper person Arthur Harding and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that one parcel of Customary Heathy Lands called Feets containing by estimation three Acres more or less with the Appurtenances lying in Bisley aforesaid which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of Arthur Harding his Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Arthur Harding the Son by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for this and his former Admittance as appears in the Margin [xxvij vij] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after such the admittance of the said Arthur Harding he the said Arthur Harding being still in Court in his proper person Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All and singular the Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments within and holden of the said Manor To the use of such person or persons and for such Estate and Estates as he the said Arthur Harding already hath or hereafter shall in and by his last will and Testament in Writing or by any writing under his Hand purporting to be his last will and Testament Give Devise Limit or Appoint the same And to or for no other Use Intent or purpose whatsoever
Also at this Court upon the third Proclamation came into Court in his proper person Henry Street and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that Messuage or Tenement situate and lying in Bisley Green with the Barn Stable Edifices Orchard and Garden thereto belonging and two acres of Land called Palmers and Anthonies two Acres of Land in the Common Field called Widecroft and One Close of land called Westwood with the Appurtenances held by the yearly Rent of one shilling and Sixpence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of John Street his Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Henry Street by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of one shilling and Sixpence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears afterwards He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
Also at this Court upon the third Proclamation came again into Court in his proper person the said Henry Street and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that Croft of Land called Bullrowson and three Crofts of Land and one Brook formerly parcel of a Tenement of Simon Butler’s parcel of the Customary Land of this Manor with the Appurtenances and all Buildings and Edifices thereupon Erected held by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services which also came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of John Street his Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Henry Street by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of one shilling and Sixpence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for this his Admittance as appears afterwards He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
Also at this Court upon the third Proclamation came again into Court in his proper person the said Henry Street and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that one parcel of Land called Newcotts containing by Estimation four Acres with the Appurtenances in Bisley aforesaid held by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services which also came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of John Street his Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Henry Street by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of one shilling and Sixpence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for this and his former Admittance as appears in the Margin [£30] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
The Homage present that Edward Jenkins late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor in and by his last Will and Testament in writing bearing date on or about the nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty seven Did Give and Devise unto his Wife Mary Jenkins and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural Life One Annual Sum or yearly Rent Charge of Forty pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be issuing and paid out of and from All his Messuage Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever or wheresoever and to be paid to his said Wife or her Assigns by equal half yearly payments on the Feast days of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Michael the Archangel free from and without any Deduction Defalcation or Abatement whatsoever from or out of the same or any part thereof on any Account whatsoever the first payment thereof to be made on the first of those days which should happen next after his decease And his will was that in case the said Annual Sum or yearly Rentcharge of Forty pounds should be behind or unpaid to his said Wife or her Assigns in part or in all by the space of one and thirty days next over or after either of the said Feast days whereon the same was thereby made payable then and so often from time to time it should and might be lawful to and for his said Wife and her Assigns into and upon his said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments so thereinbefore charged therewith or any of them or any part or parcel thereof to Enter and Distrain for the said Annual Sum or yearly Rentcharge and all arrears thereof which should be behind and unpaid and the Distress and Distresses then and there found to take Seize and carry away and impound and inpound to detain and keep until She and they should be fully satisfied and paid the said annual Sum or yearly Rent Charge and all arrears thereof and all Costs Charges Damages and Expenses which She or they should be put unto or sustain by reason or means of the taking and keeping such Distress or Distresses or otherwise to dispose of such Distress and Distresses according to Law and Subject to the payment of the said Annual Sum or yearly Rent charge to his said Wife for her life He Gave Devised and Bequeathed unto his Son Edward Jenkins to his Son in Law William Wyat Want Thomas Baker of Wokeing in the County of Surrey Gentleman and Edward Bailey of Chobham aforesaid Gentleman and their Heirs All and every his said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever And all his Estate and Interest therein and thereto upon Trust as thereinafter is mentioned of and concerning the same
The Homage also present that the said Edward Jenkins in and by a Codicil to the said Will bearing date on or about the fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Seven Did Revoke the Gift and Devise of his said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments unto them the said Edward Jenkins the Son William Wyat Want Thomas Baker and Edward Bailey and their Heirs and He did thereby Give and Devise all his Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever unto his said Son Edward Jenkins his Son in Law William Wyat Want his Son in Law John Gaskoin and the said Thomas Baker and their Heirs upon the same Trusts and to and for the same Uses Intents and Purposes And Subject to the same Charges Incumbrances and directions as he has in and by his said last Will given and devised his said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments unto the said Edward Jenkins the Son William Wyat Want Thomas Baker and Edward Bailey and their Heirs Whereupon at this Court upon the third proclamation came into Court the said Edward Jenkins the Son William Wyat Want John Gaskoin and Thomas Baker by Henry Street their Attorney and humbly prayed to be Admitted to All that parcel of Ground containing by Estimation One Acre and an half more or less called Bisley Mead formerly in the Occupation of Thomas Loveland held by the Yearly Rent of ___________ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said Edward Jenkins the Father To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to them the said Edward Jenkins the Son William Wyat Want John Gaskoin and Thomas Baker their Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to such Charges as are in the said Will of the said Edward Jenkins the Father mentioned and contained by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of _______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And they Gave to the Lord as a Fine for their Admittance as appears in the Margin [£3] They are by their said Attorney admitted Tenants thereof (Subject as aforesaid) have Seizin by the Rod and their Fealties are respited.
The Homage also present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the fourth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Eight whereby Henry Rogers of Windlesham in the County of Surrey yeoman One of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor Surrendered by the Rod into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor and by the Acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Acre of Land lying in Widecroft within this Manor abutting west on Land belonging to Henry Street North on Land belonging to John Loveland East on Land belonging to the said John Loveland and South on Land belonging to James Martin being part and parcel of all that parcel of Land with the Appurtenances called Butts containing by Estimation half an Acre three Acres of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft and half an Acre of Meadow with the Appurts lying in Churchburn Mead in Bisley aforesaid within this Manor To the only proper Use and Behoof of John Loveland of Bisley aforesaid yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever And To or for no other Use Intent or Purpose whatsoever Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came into Court in his proper person the said John Loveland and humbly prayed to be Admitted to the said premises in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said John Loveland his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of _______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£1 2s 3d] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
The Homage also present that Elizabeth Evered widow late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held for her natural life by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor One Messuage or Tenement called Goddins with a Barn and all other the Buildings Curtilages Gardens and Orchards thereto belonging and three pieces of Land with the Appurtenances thereto adjoining whereof one is called Moors Close containing by Estimation three Acres with the Appurtenances lying in Bisley within this Manor And also all those two Closes of Arable Land containing by Estimation three Acres with the Appurtenances in Bisley And also all that parcel of Land by Estimation Five Acres heretofore inclosed out of the Common Field called Neltro abutting on the Land then of John Goreing on the South and on Land then of Henry Millest on the North with the Appurts Bisley Died since the last Court Seized of the said three several Estates Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came into Court in his proper person Moses Beauchamp of Chobham in the said County of Surrey Carpenter and humbly prayed to be Admitted to One Messuage or Tenement called Goddins with a Barn and all other the Buildings Curtilages Gardens and Orchards thereto belonging and three pieces of Land with the Appurtenances thereto adjoining whereof one is called Moors Close containing by Estimation three Acres with the Appurtenances lying in Bisley within this Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said Elizabeth Evered To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Moses Beauchamp his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of _______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he Gave to the Lord as a Fine for this his Admittance as appears afterwards He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came again into Court in his proper person the said Moses Beauchamp and humbly prayed to be Admitted to all those two Closes of Arable Land containing by Estimation three Acres with the Appurtenances in Bisley which also came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said Elizabeth Evered To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Moses Beauchamp his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of _______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he Gave to the Lord as a Fine for this and his former admittance as appears in the Margin [£15] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after such the admittances of the said Moses Beauchamp he the said Moses Beauchamp being still present in Court in his proper person Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the custom of the said Manor all and singular his Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments holden of this Manor To the Use of such person or persons and for such Estate and Estates as he the said Moses Beauchamp already hath or hereafter shall by his last will and Testament in writing or by any writing purporting to be his last will and Testament under his Hand Give Devise Limit or Appoint the same And to or for no other Use Intent or purpose whatsoever
Also at this Court the first proclamation is made If the Heir at Law or any other person or persons who hath or have aright to be admitted to All that parcel of Land by Estimation Five Acres heretofore inclosed out of the Common Field called Neltro abutting on Land then of John Goreing on the South and on Lands then of Henry Millest on the North with the Appurtenances in Bisley which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said Elizabeth Evered would come into Court and take the same out of the Lord’s hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came whereupon the first Proclamation and Default are here inrolled
The Homage also present that John Eacott late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor One parcel of Land containing by Estimation two Acres abutting on the parsonage Mead on the East And also One other parcel of Land containing by Estimation One quarter of an Acre lying within this Manor Died since the last Court Seized thereof and that William Eacott his Eldest Son and Heir at Law whereupon at this Court the first proclamation is made If the said William Eacott or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Premises would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came whereupon the first proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
The Homage also Present that Elizabeth Gosden widow late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held for her natural Life by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor all that Customary Messuage or Tenement One Garden One Barn and One Stable with the Appurtenances in Bisley Green within the said Manor And three quarters of an Acre of Land there and four Acres of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft heretofore the Messuage and Lands of John Cobbett and Elizabeth his wife And also one other Acre of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field aforesaid And one Acre of Land lying in the Common Field called Burcroft And one Acre of Meadow lying in the Common Mead called Westburn Mead with their and every of their Appurtenances sometime Roger Cobbetts and since the Estate of William Hewitt and formerly in the Tenure or Occupation of Absalom Knight And also all that Cottage with a Garden Yard and Appurtenances situate lying and being in Bisley aforesaid formerly in the Occupation of Henry Pritchitt Died since the last Court so seized thereof
The Homage also Present that Edward Jenkins late of Chobham aforesaid Butcher who was intitled to the Reversion of the said Premises Expectant on the Death of the said Elizabeth Gosden departed this life in the lifetime of the said Elizabeth Gosden leaving Edward Jenkins his only Son and Heir at Law him Surviving Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came into Court in his proper person the said Edward Jenkins the Son and humbly prayed to be Admitted to the said premises which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said Elizabeth Gosden To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Deputy Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Edward Jenkins the Son his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of _______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he Gave to the Lord as a Fine for his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£16 10s] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
The Homage also present that Ann the wife of William Piercy formerly Ann Collyer Spinster late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to her and her Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor All that parcel of copyhold Land called Wheat Leaz with the Appurtenances containing by Estimation Ten Acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in the said parish and Manor of Bisley by the Yearly rent of One Shilling Heriot when it happens Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore due and of right accustomed And also One Close of Land containing by Estimation two Acres be the same more or less called or known by the Name of Loompitts Close or Burkkiln Close situate lying and being in the said parish and Manor of Bisley by the yearly Rent of Two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore due and of right accustomed Died some time since Seized of the said Two several Estates And that William Piercey is her Eldest Son and Heir at Law of the Age of Fifteen years or thereabouts Whereupon at this Court the first proclamation is made If the said William Piercey or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Premises would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came whereupon the first proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
Also at this Court came John Peyto Shrubb one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and Surrendered into the Hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All and singular his Messuage Lands Tenements and Hereditaments which he holds of the said Manor To the Use of such person or persons and for such Estate and Estates as he the said John Peyto Shrubb already hath or hereafter shall by his last will and Testament in writing or by any writing under his Hand purporting to be his last will and Testament Give Devise Limit or Appoint the same And to or for no other Use Intent or purpose whatsoever.
