Bisley Manor Court Roll 10 June 1899
At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Saturday the Tenth day of June in the sixty second year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine Before Humphrey Percy Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy of Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.
Death of Harden Honnor
At this Court came here into Court Ellen Augusta Skipper the wife of James Skipper of No. 11 Pirbright Gardens Pirbright in the County of Surrey by John Archibald Kenyon Goldthorpe her Attorney and informed the said Deputy Steward that Harden Harden [sic] late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor

All that one undivided fourth part or share of and in All that copyhold messuage or tenement with all the lands to the same belonging in Bisley by the yearly rent of One halfpenny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And who also held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor

His Will
And the said Ellen Augusta Skipper by the said John Archibald Kenyon Goldthorpe her Attorney produced to the said Deputy Steward an extract from the last Will and Codicil of the said Harden Honnor deceased which Will and Codicil respectively bore date the first day of May One thousand eight hundred and eighty nine and the Twelfth day of December One thousand eight hundred and ninety one and were proved in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice on the Eleventh day of August One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven by Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor the Executors and Trustees therein named Whereby the said Testator appointed his sons the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor the Trustees and Executors of his said Will and devised to them his copyhold lands and tenements to such uses as they should by any Deed or Deeds to be executed within Twenty one years after his decease appoint and he thereby declared that his Trustees should sell and convert into money his copyhold lands and tenements and should apply the monies to arise therefrom in manner therein mentioned
Bargain and Sale
Harden Honnor Reuben Honnor and another to Ellen Augusta Skipper
And the said Ellen Augusta Skipper by the said John Archibald Kenyon Goldthorpe her Attorney also produced to the said Deputy Steward a certain Indenture of Conveyance by way of Bargain and Sale bearing date the fifth day of October One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven made between Sarah Hills the wife of Thomas Hills of Chertsey in the County of Surrey Gentleman of the first part the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor both of Laleham in the County of Middlesex Farmers of the second part and the said Ellen Augusta Skipper of the third part in the words following “This Indenture made the Fifth day of October One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven between Sarah Hills the wife of Thomas Hills of Chertsey in the County of Surrey Gentleman of the first part Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor both of Laleham in the County of Middlesex Farmers of the second part and Ellen Augusta Skipper the wife of James Skipper of No. 11 Pirbright Gardens Pirbright in the said County of Surrey Greengrocer of the third part Whereas by an Indenture dated the Fifth day of November One thousand eight hundred and ninety two and made between Thomas Fladgate Harris and Henry Edwards Paine of the first part Harden Honnor of the second part and the said Sarah Hills of the third part it was (inter alia) witnessed that for the consideration therein mentioned the said Harden Honnor as beneficial Owner thereby covenanted with the said Sarah Hills that he would forthwith at his own cost surrender or cause to be surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the Manor of which the same were holden according to the custom of such Manor All and singular the copyhold lands hereditaments and tenements holden of the Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey herein after more particularly referred to and intended to be hereby conveyed To the use of the said Sarah Hills in customary fee simple according to the custom of the said Manor And whereas in pursuance of the covenant in that behalf contained in the said Indenture the said copyhold lands hereditaments and tenements were on the fifth day of November One thousand eight hundred and ninety two surrendered out of Court by the said Harden Honnor to the use of the said Sarah Hills and her heirs at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor subject to a condition for making void the said Surrender upon payment of the principal with interest thereon as aforesaid And whereas the said Harden Honnor duly made and executed his last Will and testament on the first day of May One thousand eight hundred and eighty nine whereby he appointed his sons the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor (being the parties hereto of the second part) the Trustees and Executors of his said Will and devised to them his copyhold lands and tenements to such uses as his said Trustees should by any Deed or Deeds to be executed within Twenty one years after his (the said Testator’s) decease appoint And the said Testator thereby declared that his Trustees should sell and convert into money the said copyhold lands and tenements and should apply the monies to arise therefrom in the manner therein mentioned And whereas the said Harden Honnor made a Codicil to his said Will dated the Twelfth day of December One thousand eight hundred and ninety one but such Codicil does not affect the disposition of the Testator’s copyhold estates And whereas the said Harden Honnor died on the Twenty fifth day of April One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven without having altered or revoked his said Will so far as the same is hereinbefore recited and the said Will and Codicil were duly proved by the Trustees the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice on the Eleventh day of August One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven And whereas the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor have agreed to sell the said copyhold hereditaments to the said Ellen Augusta Skipper at the price of Six hundred and ten pounds And whereas it hath been agreed that the sum of Five hundred and fifty pounds shall be paid to the said Sarah Hills out of the said purchase money and that the said Sarah Hills being satisfied with the remainder of her security contained in the firstly herein before recited Indenture of the Fifth day of November One thousand eight hundred and ninety two shall join in these presents and that immediately after the execution of these presents satisfaction of the hereinbefore recited conditional surrender shall be entered on the Rolls of the said Manor Now this Indenture Witnesseth that in pursuance of the said Agreement and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred and fifty pounds to the said Sarah Hills paid by the said Ellen Augusta Skipper on or before the execution of these presents by the direction of the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor (the receipt whereof the said Sarah Hills hereby acknowledges) and in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds making together the sum of Six hundred and ten pounds the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor herby acknowledge) the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor as Trustees with the privity of the said Sarah Hills hereby in exercise of the power for this purpose given to them by the said Will of the said Harden Honnor as aforesaid and of all other powers if any in anywise enabling them in this behalf hereby bargain sell and appoint unto the said Ellen Augusta Skipper All that copyhold messuage or tenement with all the lands to the same belonging in Bisley aforesaid
And also all that one parcel of customary Heathy Lands called Feets containing by estimation Three acres more or less with the appurtenances lying in Bisley aforesaid To which premises the said Harden Honnor was admitted tenant at a Special Court Baron held for the said Manor on the Twenty ninth day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty eight and containing in the aggregate Twelve Acres one rood and thirty two poles or thereabouts and are with the dimensions and abuttals more particularly shewn in the plan drawn upon these presents and thereon coloured red To hold the same unto and to the use of the said Ellen Augusta Skipper in customary fee simple at the Will of the Lord of the said Manor according to the custom of the said Manor at and under the rents suits and services therefor due and of right accustomed absolutely discharged from the hereinbefore recited Conditional Surrender and the said principal and interest thereby secured and all claims and demands on account thereof And the said Harden Honnor and Reuben Honnor hereby acknowledge the right of the said Ellen Augusta Skipper to production of the document of title mentioned in the schedule hereto and to delivery of copies thereof In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
The Schedule above referred to 1892 November 5th – Indenture of this date made between Thomas Fladgate Harris and Henry Edwards Paine of the first part Harden Honnor of the second part and the said Sarah Hills of the third part Signed sealed and Delivered by
Admission of Ellen Augusta Skipper
Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court the said Ellen Augusta Skipper by the said John Archibald Kenyon Goldthorpe her Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to All that the said copyhold messuage or tenement with all the lands to the same belonging in Bisley aforesaid which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Harden Honnor To whom the Lord of the manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Ellen Augusta Skipper her heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was by her said Attorney admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her admittance as appears after and her fealty was pardoned
Admission of same
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court the said Ellen Augusta Skipper by the said John Archibald Kenyon Goldthorpe her Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to All that the said one parcel of customary Heathy Lands called Feets containing by estimation Three acres (more or less) with the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Harden Honnor To whom the Lord of the manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Ellen Augusta Skipper her heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was by her said Attorney admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a Fine for such her two several admittances as appears in the margin [Fine for both £50] and her fealty was pardoned
