The General Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held in and for the said Manor on Monday the fifth day of June in the thirty fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and seventy one Before Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy Steward of William Haydon Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.

Conditional Surrender William Steptoe to Rich.d Hetherington
The Homage aforesaid being sworn and charged on their Oath do present a certain Conditional Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey  Be it remembered that on the twenty fifth day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy one William Steptoe of Bisley in the County of Surrey Husbandman one of the Copyhold or Customary tenants of the said Manor personally came before Mark Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy of William Haydon Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward of the Courts of the said manor out of Court and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and eighty pounds sterling to him the said William Steptoe in hand well and truly paid by Richard Hetherington of Chobham in the said County Gentleman hath surrendered and doth surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that one copyhold messuage or tenement barn yard outhouses workhouses gardens orchards and backsides thereunto belonging together with a close of arable land thereto adjoining containing by estimation one acre more or less heretofore in the occupation of William Taylor and then of the said William Steptoe also all that the site of one messuage or cottage and certain customary land to the same belonging containing one acre or thereabouts with the appurtenances in Bisley To all which said premises the said William Steptoe was admitted tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said manor on the thirtieth day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine And also all the estate right title interest property possession claim and demand whatsoever of the said William Steptoe of in to or out of the said premises and any part or parcel thereof To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of the said Richard Hetherington his heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon this condition nevertheless that if the said William Steptoe his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Richard Hetherington his executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of One hundred and eighty pounds together with interest for the same after the rate of Five pounds for every one hundred pounds for a year upon the twenty fifth day of September next ensuing the date hereof without any deduction or abatement on any account whatsoever (except property tax) then this Surrender is to be void and of no effect otherwise to remain and be in full force and virtue  William Steptoe  This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Mark Smallpeice Deputy Steward In the presence of Rodwell Hensman Clerk to M.r Curtis Solicitor Guildford  - Received the day and year first within written of and from the above named Richard Hetherington the sum of One hundred and Eighty pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by him to me  £180  William Steptoe William B Hensman
 [Margin note: Be it remembered that on the eighteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and ninety four Richard Hetherington in this Surrender named did by writing under his hand acknowledge to have had and received all principal money and interest due and owing to him upon or by virtue of this surrender and did authorize the Steward of this Manor to enter his acknowledgement of satisfaction of and for the same Surrender on the Court Rolls of the said manor and to vacate the same Surrender.  Witness my hand F Ferdinand Smallpeice Steward]

1st Proclamation on Surr.r of Edm.d Lephard and James Luff
At this Court the first proclamation was made for Catherine Luff or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that piece or parcel of land some time since enclosed from the waste containing by estimation one acre and twenty two rods lying at Riding Hill on the North west side of the Garden now or late of the said John Hill which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the surrender of the said Edmund Lephard and James Luff on the twenty fifth day of June One thousand eight hundred and seventy to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Admittance of Tho.s Litchford Rawlinson 1st Copy
At this Court upon the second proclamation came here into Court in his proper person Thomas Litchford Rawlinson and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one close of land called Hunger Hills containing by estimation one acre and a half and four acres of land lying and being in the common field called Wide Croft and two acres of land lying in the common field called South Earsh and one acre of land lying in the common field called Bur Croft and also one mead called Newbridge Mead containing by estimation one acre and an acre and an half in Westburn Mead and half an acre of Meadow in Churchburn Mead which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the surrender of Stephen Eacott as presented at the last general Court Baron held in and for this manor To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Thomas Litchford Rawlinson his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Two shillings and six pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears afterwards and his fealty was respited.
Admittance of The same 2nd Copy
Also at this Court upon the second proclamation came here again into Court in his proper person the said Thomas Litchford Rawlinson and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one meadow called Bisley Mead adjoining to Newbridge containing by estimation one acre more or less which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the surrender of the said Stephen Eacott To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Thomas Litchford Rawlinson his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of six pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his two admittances as appears in the margin [£25 10s] and his fealty was respited.

Death of Will.m Chandler
The Homage present that William Chandler late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the  custom of the said manor  All that half acre of land in Churchburn Mead in Bisley with the appurtenances by the yearly rent of Five pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And also all that one messuage or tenement called Goddins with a Barn and all other the Buildings Curtilages Gardens and Orchards thereto belonging and three pieces of land with the appurtenances thereto adjoining whereof one is called Mead Close containing by estimation three acres with the appurtenances lying in Bisley within this manor by the yearly rent of nine pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And also all those two closes of arable land containing by estimation three acres with the appurtenances in Bisley by the yearly rent of one shilling and four pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And also two acres of land part of a parcel of land called Miles Grove within this manor and which said two acres adjoin Port Lane on the East the Common Field called Neltro on the North the copyhold land formerly of William Walden and now or late William Smiths called Wheat Leaz on the West and two acres other part of Miles Grove on the South now or late William Walkers And also one acre of land other part of the said parcel of land called Miles Grove and which acre adjoins to Miles Green on the South to Port Lane on the East to an acre of Land other part of Miles Grove late James Hones on the West and to the said two acres now or late William Walkers on the North by the yearly rent of one penny half penny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs  And also all that his one undivided moiety or half equal half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Westwood Field and containing by estimation Four acres and also of and in all that part or parcel of land called or known by the name of Westwood Mead and containing by estimation two acres And also of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Neltro Common Field (in two pieces) and containing by estimation two acres And also of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Butts Field and containing by estimation two acres and within and held of the said Manor by the yearly apportioned rent of One shilling and seven pence half penny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs  And also all that his other undivided moiety or half equal half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of and in the said four several pieces or parcels of land called or known by the names of Westwood Field Westwood Mead Neltro Common Field and Butts Field by the yearly apportioned rent of One shilling and seven pence half penny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs  And also all that customary or copyhold parcel of land with the appurtenances lying in four severals containing by estimation seven acres more or less lying in Bisley within this manor by the yearly rent of six pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs  Died since the last Court so thereof seized whereupon seven Heriots became due to the Lord of this manor but none were seized because the said William Chandler had no live beast at the time of his death.

Now at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at law of the said William Chandler or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that half acre of land in Churchburn Mead which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Chandler to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Also at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at law of William Chandler or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to Two acres of land part of a parcel of land called Miles Grove within this manor and which said two acres adjoin Port Lane on the East the Common Field called Neltro on the North the copyhold land formerly of William Walden and now or late William Smith’s called Wheat Leaz on the West and two acres other part of Miles Grove on the South now or late William Walkers And also one acre of land other part of the said parcel of land called Miles Grove and which acre adjoins to Miles Green on the South to Port Lane on the East to an acre of Land other part of Miles Grove late James Hones on the West and to the said two acres now or late William Walkers on the North which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Chandler to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Also at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at law of William Chandler or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that the one undivided moiety or half equal half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Westwood Field and containing by estimation Four acres and also of and in all that part or parcel of land called or known by the name of Westwood Mead and containing by estimation two acres And also of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Neltro Common Field (in two pieces) and containing by estimation two acres And also of and in all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Butts Field and containing by estimation two acres and within and held of the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Chandler to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Also at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at law of William Chandler or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that the other undivided moiety or half equal half part the whole into two equal parts to be divided of him the said William Chandler of and in all those the said four several pieces or parcels of land called or known by the name of Westwood Field, Westwood Mead, Neltro Common Field and Butts Field which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Chandler to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Also at this Court the first proclamation was made for the heir at law of William Chandler or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that customary or copyhold parcel of land with the appurtenances lying in four severals containing by estimation seven acres more or less lying in Bisley within this manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Chandler to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

2nd Proclamation on death of Rev.d Tho.s Hockley
At this Court the second proclamation was made for the heir at law of The Reverend Thomas Hockley deceased or any other person or persons who hath or have a right  to be admitted to All that Copyhold Cottage or Tenement with all the copyhold lands by estimation half an acre of land more or less situate lying and being near Bisley Green with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging late the estate of Elizabeth Dudman formerly Elizabeth Collyer and late in the occupation of Henry Knight which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the surrender of the said Thomas Hockley to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Death of Mary Hill
The Homage present that Mary Hill late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this manor who held to her and her heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the  custom of the said manor subject to a conditional surrender thereof made by the said Mary Hill to William Marter and dated the eleventh day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty The several parts and parcels hereinafter mentioned and described of All that copyhold messuage or tenement called Radsell’s Grove with the Barn buildings Orchards gardens and all the lands thereto belonging with the appurtenances containing by estimation five acres more or less in the Parish of Bisley late in the occupation of William Slaughter and since of John Hill that is to say the north end of the said messuage a small piece of ground before it half the barn half the yard south end and garden behind the barn two plats of ground the west side against the other a road to it from the yard about two and a half acres (more or less) Also the Hogsty against the common  Died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a Heriot of the best beast became due to the Lord of this manor but none was seized because the said Mary Hill had no live beast at the time of her death.
Her Will
The Homage also present the Will of the said Mary Hill dated the sixth day of March one thousand eight eight [sic] hundred and sixty five the original whereof is now produced and read in open Court whereby she gave and devised unto her Son James his heirs and assigns All that her copyhold messuage or tenement garden ground and pieces or parcels of arable Land thereunto adjoining and belonging containing in the whole by estimation two acres and a half more or less situate lying and being in the Parish of Bisley then in the occupation of herself and the said James Hill To hold the same unto and to the use of her said Son James Hill his heirs and assigns for ever.

Admittance of James Hill
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said James Hill and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that copyhold messuage or tenement called Radsell’s Grove with the Barn buildings Orchards gardens and all the lands thereto belonging with the appurtenances containing by estimation five acres more or less in the Parish of Bisley late in the occupation of William Slaughter and since of John Hill that is to say the north end of the said messuage a small piece of ground before it half the barn half the yard south end and garden behind the barn two plats of ground the west side against the other a road to it from the yard about two and a half acres (more or less) Also the Hogsty against the common which came into the hands of the Lord of this manor on the death of the said Mary Hill To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said James Hill his heirs and assigns for ever (subject to the before mentioned Conditional Surrender) by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly apportioned rent of one penny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£12] and his fealty was respited.

Non payment of Fine by the Refuge for Homeless and Destitute Children
The Homage also present that the managers of the Refuge for Homeless and Destitute Children have not paid the Fine in which they were amerced at the last Court and the Bailiff was ordered to insist upon payment of the same.
Encroachment by same.
The Homage also present that the Managers of the said Refuge have encroached on the Waste of this manor by interfering with the Pond thereon.
