At a General Court Baron of The Right Honorable George Lord Onslow and Cranley Lord of the said Manor there held for the said Manor on Monday the twenty third day of June in the fortieth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth And in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred Before Joseph Pickstone Gentleman Steward there.

The Homage to Inquire for our Sovereign Lord the King and the Lord of this Manor.

The Homage present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the ninth day of July one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Whereby Ann Eacott Widow one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and Acceptance of the Steward aforesaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Customary Messuage or Tenement with the Edifices Buildings Garden Orchard and Curtilage thereto belonging situate in Bisley Green in the Parish of Bisley abutting on the said Green on the South North and East parts late in the occupation of George Slyfield and then of ______ Floyd To the only use and behoof of Thomas Eacott one of the Sons of the said Ann Eacott his Heirs and Assigns for ever Now at this Court upon the first Proclamation came into Court in his proper Person the said Thomas Eacott  and humbly prayed of the Lord of this Manor to be admitted to the said Messuage or Tenement and Premises in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered Seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Thomas Eacott his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of four pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord for a Fine as appears in the Margin [£2 10s] and his Fealty was respited.

The Homage also present that Mary Hammond Widow (formerly Mary Rempnant Spinster) one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to her and her Heirs of the Lord of this Manor by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Manor by the Yearly Rent of five shillings and five pence Heriot Suit of Court and other Services All that one Messuage or Tenement in Bisley called Bonnens otherwise Edmeads with the Barns Edifices Gardens Orchards Curtilages and three Closes of Land to the said Messuage adjoining and belonging containing by Estimation Seven Acres One Close of Land called Long Close containing by Estimation one Acre One Close of Land called Hanger Hills containing by Estimation one acre and an half and four Acres of Land lying and being in the Common Field called Wide Croft and two Acres of Land lying in the Common Field called South Earsh And one Acre of Land lying in the Common Field called Bur Croft And two Acres of Land lying in the Common Field called Neltro abutting on the Land formerly of Sarah Millest on the South Lands of John Hone on the North and Land of John Goreing on the East And also one Mead called Newbridge Mead containing by Estimation one Acre  And an Acre and an half in Westburn Mead and half an Acre of Meadow in Churchburn Mead and who also held to her and her Heirs in manner aforesaid by the Yearly Rent of Six Pence Heriot Suit of Court and other Services All that one Meadow called Bisley Mead adjoining to Newbridge containing by Estimation one Acre more or less died since the last Court so seized Whereupon two Heriots to wit the two best live Beasts of the said Mary Hammond became due to the Lord of this Manor but that at the time of her death she had no live Beast And that the Reverend Henry Hammond is her Eldest Son and next Heir according to the custom of this Manor  Now at this Court the first Proclamation was made for the said Henry Hammond or any other Person or Persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Messuage or Tenement called Bonnells otherwise Edmeads with the Buildings Gardens Orchards and several Closes of Land and Meadow thereto belonging which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Mary Hammond to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of the said Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.
Also at this Court the first Proclamation was made for the said Henry Hammond or any other Person or Persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Meadow called Bisley Mead adjoining to Newbridge which also came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Mary Hammond to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of the said Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

The Lord of this Manor by his said Steward acknowledged and the Homage presented the following Deeds of Enfranchisement Viz.t
An Indenture dated twelfth day of February One thousand seven hundred and eighty three Whereby the Lord enfranchised unto Edward Hippisley Esquire and his Heirs a Close of Arable Land formerly two Closes called Westwards lying within this Manor and containing by Estimation four Acres Reserving the Rent of two pence and Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.
An Indenture dated second day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty two Whereby the Lord enfranchised to Thomas Loveland and his Heirs a Customary Messuage Barns Buildings Orchards and Six Acres of Land called Waters And also a Coppice abutting on Lomepitts Lane called Paynes by Estimation Six Acres late Cobbetts of the Pound and since of the Earl of Aylesford within this Manor Reserving the Rent of Two Pence Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.
An Indenture dated thirteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Whereby the Lord enfranchised to James Wood and his Heirs an Acre of Land lying in the Waste against the Lands of James Wood and South against the Highway and formerly parcel of Hosted Common Field when in a Common Field in Bisley Reserving the Rent of two pence Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.
An Indenture dated eighth day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Whereby the Lord enfranchised to James Spong and his Heirs an Close of Land by Estimation two Acres abutting upon Land formerly of Humphrey Field on the North and West and the Lane leading from Bisley Green towards Velley Green on the East and two Acres of Land in the Common Field called Neltro in Bisley Reserving the Yearly Rent of One Penny Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.
An Indenture dated thirteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Whereby the Lord enfranchised to William Tunnell and his Heirs a Cottage or Moiety of a Cottage and Piece of Land lying in a Lane called Queen Lane purchased by George Clifton of Henry Wickham and also a Cottage or Moiety of a Cottage  purchased by George Clifton of Edmund Clifton his Father Together with the Barns Buildings Gardens Orchard and Land to the said Cottages or Moieties belonging Reserving the Yearly Rent of two pence Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.
An Indenture dated thirteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Whereby the Lord enfranchised to John Loveland and his Heirs a Tenement called Hallers One Wood called Newcroft, One Acre of Land called Widecroft, Two acres and an half lying in Great Westwoods Two Acres lying near Palmers Land in South Earsh and one Barn and one Close thereto adjoining between Hallers House and Hallers Grove Also one Parcel of Land called Longlands by Estimation Three Acres Also one parcel of Land called Hallers Grove by Estimation Three Acres Also a parcel of Pasture by Estimation Two Acres abutting upon Westburn Mead Also one Acre of Land in Widecroft being parcel of Land called Butts containing by Estimation half an acre Three acres of Land in Widecroft Common Field and half an acre of Meadow in Churchborn Mead all in Bisley aforesaid Reserving the Yearly Rent of Two pence Suit of Court Rights and Liberties as in the said Indenture is mentioned.

The Homage also present that John Hill the Younger one of the Copyhold  or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Manor All that Messuage or Tenement with the Outhouses Gardens and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate within this Manor heretofore in the Possession of John Towers and since of John Stiles by the Yearly Rent of four pence Heriot Suit of Court and other Services died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a Heriot to wit the best live Animal of the said John Hill became due to the Lord of this Manor and a Pig was seized and compounded for with his Widow at Eighteen shillings And that John Hill is his Eldest Son and next Heir according to the custom of this Manor  Now at this Court the first Proclamation was made for the said John Hill the Son or any other Person or Persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Messuage or Tenement and Premises which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said John Hill the Father to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of the said Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.

At this Court came into Court in his proper Person William Spong one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforeaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor All his Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments held by Copy of Court Roll as parcel of this Manor To the use of such Person or Persons and for such Estate and Estates therein as the said William Spong shall in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing give devise limit direct or appoint the same.

At this Court came into Court in his proper Person James Ne Smyth one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of the Steward aforeaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor All his Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments held by Copy of Court Roll as parcel of this Manor To the use of such Person or Persons and for such Estate and Estates therein as the said James Ne Smyth shall in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing give devise limit direct or appoint the same.

At this Court came into Court in his proper Person James Stovell late of Shepperton in the County of Middlesex one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the Acceptance of the Steward aforeaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor One Messuage with the Appurtenances at Gateshed End with the Barn Garden Orchard and about one Acre and an half of Land to the same adjoining and belonging lying and being within this Manor heretofore in the Occupation of Thomas May And also one Cottage and a quarter of an Acre of Land with the Appurtenances in Bisley within this Manor late Richard Freelands  To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of William Woods the Elder of Naphill in the Parish of Wokeing in the County of Surrey Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever  Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper Person the said William Woods and humbly prayed of the Lord of this Manor to be admitted to the said Messuage at Gateshed End with the Barn Garden Orchard and about one Acre and an half of Land to the same adjoining and belonging in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same  and delivered Seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to him the said William Woods the Elder his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of Four pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord for a Fine as appears in the Margin [£4 10s] and his Fealty was respited.
Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came again here into Court in his proper Person the said William Woods and humbly prayed of the Lord of this Manor to be admitted to the said One Cottage and a quarter of an Acre of Land in Bisley  in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered Seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to him the said William Woods the Elder his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of One penny Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord for a Fine as appears in the Margin [15s] and his Fealty was respited.

After his said several Admittances came again here into Court in his proper Person the said William Woods the Elder and Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and Acceptance of the aforeaid Steward and according to the Custom of the said Manor All his Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments held by Copy of Court Roll as parcel of this Manor To the use of such Person or Persons and for such Estate and Estates therein as the said William Woods the Elder shall in and by his last Will and Testament in writing give devise limit direct or appoint the same.

The Homage present a certain Surrender taken by two Customary Tenants of this Manor on the day of holding the present Court but out of Court in the following words, to wit, “The Manor of Bisley in Surrey. Be it remembered that on the twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred Philip Gyles of the Parish of Bisley Husbandman one of the Copyhold Tenants of the said [Manor] did out of Court Surrender by the Rod and by these presents doth Surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor according to the Custom of the said Manor by the acceptance of James Stedman and William Spong two other Copyhold Tenants of the said Manor All that his Copyhold  Messuage or Tenement with all his Copyhold Lands thereunto belonging by Estimation two Acres more or less with the Appurtenances lying and being at Stavick Leak with in the said Parish and Manor of Bisley to the only use and behoof of Edward Hammond of the Parish of Horsell in the County of Surrey Yeoman and his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the Custom of the said Manor Subject nevertheless upon this Condition if the within named Philip Gyles his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Edward Hammond his Executors Administrators or Assigns the full Sum of Forty one Pounds and eighteen shillings of good and lawfull Money of Great Brittain with lawfull Interest for the same on or upon the twenty third day of June which shall be in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and one without fraud or delay then this surrender shall be void and of none effect or else to be and remain in full force and virtue – Philip Gyles This Surrender taken and accepted the Day and Year first above written within the said Manor by us James Stedman  William X Spong his mark In the presence of Joseph Hockley.

[Margin note:  Be it remembered that on the nineteenth day of April One thousand eight hundred and six Edward Hammond in this Surrender named did acknowledge that he had received of Philip Gyles in this Surrender also named All Principal and Interest Monies due upon and by virtue of this Surrender And by a writing under his Hand of that date did authorize the Steward of the Manor of Bisley to enter Satisfaction upon the Roll of the said Manor.  Witness my Hand  Joseph Pickstone Stew.d]
