At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Thursday the Twenty seventh day of July in the fifth year of the reign of Our Sovereign Lord Edward the Seventh by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and all the British Dominions beyond the Seas King Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and five Before Humphrey Percy Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy of Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.

Will of William Triggs
At this Court on the first proclamation came here into Court William Triggs Stevenson Turner of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman and Herbert Mason Moon of Guildford aforesaid Stone Mason by Hugh Alexander Merriman their Attorney and produced to the said Deputy Steward the Probate of the last Will and Testament of William Triggs late one of the Copyhold or Customary tenants of this Manor who held All that piece or parcel of the Waste of this Manor containing about Fifty yards in length and six yards in depth and being contiguous to and adjoining the East end of his premises situate at Riding Hill within this Manor And also all that small strip of the Waste of this Manor adjoining to the North west side of his said premises containing about thirty yards in length and two yards in width
by the yearly rent of Sixpence Heriot certain One shilling Suit of Court and other services and customs therefor formerly due and of right accustomed which Will bears date the First day of February One thousand eight hundred and ninety Whereby after giving certain legacies he devised all his real estate unto and to the use of his Trustees Richard Sparkes and John Morton Upon trust to stand possessed thereof and to pay the income thereof unto his wife Ann (since deceased) during her life And after her decease Upon trust for sale as therein mentioned And such Will (together with a Codicil thereto not affecting the appointment of Trustees or devise of real estate in the said Will contained) was duly proved in the Principal Probate Registry by the Executors therein named on the Twenty sixth day of March One thousand eight hundred and ninety two.

And the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner and Herbert Mason Moon also produced to the said Deputy Steward a certain Indenture dated The Eleventh day of February One thousand nine hundred and two made between the said John Morton of the first part Blanche Triggs, Rose Stevenson Turner, the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner, Gilbert Mark Turner and Arthur Raymond Turner of the second part and the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner and Herbert Mason Moon of the third part Whereby the said John Morton appointed the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner and Herbert Mason Moon to be trustees of the said Will of the said William Triggs deceased in the place of the said John Morton who was desirous of being discharged from the trusts thereof and of Richard Sparkes deceased

Now at this Court upon the second proclamation came here into Court the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner and Herbert Mason Moon by their said Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted tenants to All that the said piece or parcel of the Waste of this Manor containing about Fifty yards in length and six yards in depth and being contiguous to and adjoining the East end of his premises situate at Riding Hill within this Manor And also all that small strip of the Waste of this Manor adjoining to the North west side of his said premises containing about thirty yards in length and two yards in width which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said William Triggs To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seisin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said William Triggs Stevenson Turner and Herbert Mason Moon their heirs and assigns for ever Upon the trusts declared by the Said Will of the said William Triggs deceased by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Sixpence Heriot certain One shilling Suit of Court and other services and customs therefor formerly due and of right accustomed And so they were by their said Attorney admitted tenants thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such their admittance as appears in the margin [£1] and their fealty was respited

This Indenture was made the Second day of February One thousand nine hundred Between The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow of the one part and Alfred Horace Thornton of Windsor in the County of Berks Gentleman of the other part Whereas the said  William Hillier Earl of Onslow is seised of the Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey for an estate of inheritance in fee simple in possession And whereas at a Special Court Baron held for the said Manor on the First day of August One thousand eight  hundred and ninety nine the said Alfred Horace Thornton was admitted Tenant to All that piece or parcel of land forming part of The Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid containing One acre or thereabouts and bounded on the North and East by other part of Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid and on the South and West sides by land belonging to the War Department and contains in width from east to west One hundred and ninety five feet or thereabouts and in depth from north to south on the West side thereof Two hundred and twenty nine feet or thereabouts and in depth from north to south on the east side thereof Two hundred and twenty five feet or thereabouts the boundary of the said piece of land on the North side running in a line from the outside post of the small gateway at the entrance to Wisdoms Farm through the base of the plum tree and which said piece or parcel of land was particularly delineated in the map or plan drawn in the margin of a certain Absolute Surrender taken out of Court on the Tenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and ninety nine And also full right and liberty to pass and repass over and along the road or way used as the entrance to Wisdoms Farm either with or without horses carts and carriages at all times and for all purposes but so that such right of way should extend for a distance of twelve feet only along such road or way To hold the same to the said Alfred Horace Thornton his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the Yearly apportioned rent of One penny Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And whereas the said William Hillier Earl of Onslow hath agreed with the said Alfred Horace Thornton for the enfranchisement of the said piece or parcel of land and hereditaments for the sum of Thirty six pounds Now this Indenture witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Thirty six pounds upon the execution of these presents to the said William Hillier Earl of Onslow paid by the said Alfred Horace Thornton (the receipt whereof the said William Hillier Earl of Onslow doth hereby acknowledge) He the said  William Hillier Earl of Onslow as beneficial owner doth hereby grant release and enfranchise unto the said Alfred Horace Thornton  All that the said piece or parcel of land forming part of The Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid containing One acre or thereabouts and bounded on the North and East by other part of Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid and on the South and West sides by land belonging to the War Department and contains in width from east to west One hundred and ninety five feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the West side thereof Two hundred and twenty nine feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the East side thereof Two hundred and twenty five feet or thereabouts the boundary of the said piece of land on the North side running in a line from the outside post of the small gateway at the entrance to Wisdoms Farm through the base of the plum tree and which said piece or parcel of land was particularly delineated in the map or plan drawn in the margin of a certain Absolute Surrender taken out of Court on the Tenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and ninety nine and thereon coloured Red And also full right and liberty to pass and repass over and along the road or way used as the entrance to Wisdoms Farm either with or without horses carts and carriages at all times and for all purposes but so that such right of way should extend for a distance of twelve feet only along such road or way And also all manorial and seigniorial rights of every description in respect of the said Manor affecting the said hereditaments hereinbefore described including the rights reserved by the Copyhold Act 1894 Section 23 Except nevertheless and reserved unto the said William Hillier Earl of Onslow his heirs and assigns such rights of escheat for want of heirs as is reserved by the Copyhold Act 194 Section 21. To hold the same except as aforesaid unto and to the use of the said Alfred Horace Thornton his heirs and assigns for ever freed and absolutely discharged from all manorial and seigniorial rights suits services and customs whatsoever and from all rents heriots fines and all incidents whatsoever of copyhold or customary tenure as freehold of inheritance but with the benefit of all rights of Common in the Wastes of the said Manor (if any) to which the said Alfred Horace Thornton now is or was immediately prior to the execution of these presents entitled as tenant of the said Manor in respect of the land and hereditaments expressed to be hereby enfranchised In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written – Onslow – Signed Sealed and Delivered by the above named William Hillier Earl of Onslow in the presence of Isabella B Looker, Spinster, 70 Overstrand Mansions S.W
