Bisley Manor Court Roll 7 July 1875
At a General Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held in and for the said Manor on Wednesday the 7th day of July in the thirty ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy five Before Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Steward there.

Absolute Surrender William Steptoe to William Taylor
The Homage (aforesaid) being sworn and charged on their Oath Do present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court to wit on the eighteenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and seventy four Whereby William Steptoe of Bisley in the County of Surrey Husbandman one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds to him paid by William Taylor of Bisley aforesaid Farmer did Surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward and according to the custom of the said manor All that copyhold messuage or tenement barn yard outhouses workhouses gardens orchards and backsides thereunto belonging together with a close of arable land thereto adjoining containing by estimation one acre more or less theretofore in the occupation of William Taylor and then of the said William Steptoe And also All that site of one messuage or Cottage and certain customary land to the same belonging containing one acre or thereabouts with the appurtenances in Bisley to which said premises the said William Steptoe was admitted Tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the thirtieth day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty nine And also All that piece or parcel of land formerly Waste of this manor containing about ten rods more or less contiguous to and in front of the premises belonging to the said William Steptoe at Bisley aforesaid and bounded on the South and East by property of the said William Steptoe on the West by the Road leading from Guildford to Bagshot and on the North by the Road leading from the Guildford and Bagshot Road to Bisley Church to which premises the said William Steptoe was admitted tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said manor on the eleventh day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty eight To the only proper use and behoof of the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns for ever
Admittance of William Taylor
Now at this Court upon the First Proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said William Taylor and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said copyhold messuage or tenement barn yard outhouses workhouses gardens orchards and backsides thereunto belonging together with a close of arable land thereto adjoining containing by estimation one acre more or less theretofore in the occupation of William Taylor and now of the said William Steptoe in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one shilling Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears afterwards and his fealty was respited.

Also at this Court upon the First Proclamation came here again into Court in his proper person the said William Taylor and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said piece or parcel of land formerly Waste of this manor containing about ten rods more or less contiguous to and in front of the premises lately belonging to the said William Steptoe but now of the said William Taylor at Bisley aforesaid and bounded on the South and East by property of the said William Steptoe on the West by the Road leading from Guildford to Bagshot and on the North by the Road leading from the Guildford and Bagshot Road to Bisley Church in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of One shilling Heriot certain Two shillings and six pence Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his three several admittances as appears in the margin [Fine for the whole £47] and his fealty was respited.
Death of John Slann
The Homage also present that John Slann late one of the copyhold or customary Tenants of this manor who held to him and his heirs by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor All that Cottage or tenement erected and built by Edmund Vincent together with the garden and yard used therewith formerly in the occupation of Joseph Pearce containing altogether a scite of eighty rods or there abouts situate lying and being at Miles Green in the Parish of Bisley and part and parcel of certain lands called Wheat Leaze with the appurtenances by the yearly rent of Two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs And also All that piece or parcel of land heretofore waste of this Manor containing about half a rod in width and ten rods in length more or less being contiguous to and in front of his property at Bisley aforesaid bounded on the North by the premises of the said John Slann on the South East and West by the Green at Bisley by the yearly rent of one shilling Heriot certain two shillings and six pence Suit of Court and other services and customs died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a Heriot of the best Beast and a heriot certain of Two shillings and six pence became due to the Lord of this manor but the former was not seized because the said John Slann had no live Beast at the time of his death.

Death of Joshua Turner
The Homage also present that Joshua Turner late one of the copyhold or customary Tenants of this manor who held to him and his heirs by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor (subject to a Conditional Surrender thereof to Samuel Higgott dated the sixth day of April One thousand eight hundred and fifty three) All that one acre of land lying (in two several pieces) in the Common Field called Burcroft within the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs And also All that one acre of land lying in the Common Field called Widecroft with the appurtenances by the yearly rent of Two pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon two heriots of the two best beasts became due to the Lord of this manor but none were seized because the said Joshua Turner had no live beasts at the time of his death.

Now at this Court the First Proclamation was made for the said heirs at Law of the said Joshua Turner deceased or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that one acre of land lying (in two several pieces) in the Common Field called Burcroft within the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Joshua Turner to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are inrolled.

Also at this Court the First Proclamation was made for the said heirs at Law of the said Joshua Turner deceased or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that one acre of land lying in the Common Field called Widecroft with the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Joshua Turner to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are inrolled.
Enfranchisement Charles Robinson
The Homage also present that the copyhold or customary hereditaments to which Charles Robinson was admitted Tenant on the twenty fifth day of July One thousand eight hundred and seventy four have been lately enfranchised and are now held freely of this Manor

The Homage also present that the copyhold or customary hereditaments to which The Reverend William Tringham was admitted Tenant at General Courts Baron held in and for this Manor on the twenty third day of April One thousand eight hundred and forty nine and the twelfth day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty six have been lately enfranchised and are now held freely of this Manor
