At this Court came into Court in his Proper Person John Hollest of Farnham in the County of Surrey Gentleman And produced a certain Deed Poll or Power of Attorney under the Hand and Seal of Thomas Philip Dayrolles Esq.r bearing date the Second day of June one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six Which Deed Poll or Power of Attorney is in the words following Viz.t “Know all Men by these Presents that I Thomas Philip Dayrolle of Hanover Square in the County of Middlesex Esquire Send Greeting Whereof my late father Solomon Dayrolle Esquire did sometime since contract and agree with Henry Halsey of Henley Park in the County of Surry Esquire for the Sale to him and his Heirs of divers Freehold Manors Lands and Hereditaments in the County of Surrey as well for the Copyhold Lands and Hereditaments hereinafter mentioned and described and in order that the same Contract might be carried into Execution And the said Copyhold Premises duly Surrendered the said Solomon Dayrolle at the request of the said Henry Halsey did on or about the _____ day of ______ last past make and execute a certain Instrument or Letter of Attorney for Empowering John Hollest of Farnham in the County of Surrey Gentleman to appear for him the said Solomon Dayrolle at the then next Court Baron or any other General or Special Court Baron to be holden in or for the Manor of Bisley in the County of Surry or before the Steward of the said Manor the same Copyhold Premises by the Description of All those several Parcels of Arable and Wood ground called Widestrod and Newlands Burchet And also one Grove of Wood containing by Estimation two Acres called Gonwill’s Grove and one Plot of Land containing by estimation Seven Acres in Bisley Wood formerly William Martins And also one Croft called Newins lying near Ramhurst Heath all which said Premises contain together by Estimation thirty and three Acres little more or less and are situate in Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor by Copy of Court Roll under the yearly Rent of three Shillings and ten Pence and other Customs and Services And all other Lands and Hereditaments of and belonging to him in Bisley aforesaid to which the said Solomon Dayrolle was Admitted Tenant at a Court holden in and for the said Manor on the Twenty fourth day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty or at any other Court with the Appurtenances To the use of the said Henry Halsey his Heirs and Assigns forever And whereas the said John Halest did not in pursuance of the said Power make the same Surrender And the said Solomon Dayrolle departed this Life on or about the Sixteenth day of March last past and thereupon the same Power of Attorney became Void And the Messuage and Parcels of Land with the Appurtenances descended to me as Eldest Son and Heir of my said Father and I thereupon became Seized thereof In Trust for the said Henry Halsey and his heirs And whereas the said Henry Halsey hath applied to and requested of me at his Costs and Charges to Authorize and impower the said John Hollest to do all such Acts matters and Things as shall be deemed necessary and requisite for the causing the same Premises to be well and effectually Surrendered into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor To the use of the said Henry Halsey his Heirs and Assigns and to which I have consented Now therefore Know Ye that I the said Thomas Philip Dayrolle in Pursuance of such Request and in Consideration of the Premises Have nominated constituted and Appointed and in my Place and Stead put and deputed and in and by these Presents Do nominate Constitute and Appoint and in my Place and Stead put and depute the said John Hollest my true and lawful Attorney to appear for me at the next or any other general or Special Court Baron to be holden in and for the said Manor of Bisley And then and there in my name to pray and be Admitted to the same Lands and Tenements which so descended to me as aforesaid with the Appurtenances And upon and after such Admission and at the same Court or at any other Court Baron to be holden for the said Manor or before the Steward thereof or before two Copyhold Tenants of the same Manor for me and in my Name to Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor the same Lands and Tenements with the Rights Members and Appurtenances To the use of the said Henry Halsey his Heirs and Assigns forever To be holden of the Lord of the said Manor at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor And I hereby give and grant unto my said Attorney full Power and Authority to do all and every other Acts and things as shall be thought necessary and requisite for effectuating such Admission and Surrender as aforesaid And I hereby Certify allow and Confirm all and whatsoever my said Attorney shall lawfully do or cause to done in and about the Premises Provided always and these Presents and the Powers and Authorities hereby given are upon this Condition nevertheless that no Act Deed Matter or Thing shall be made done or executed in pursuance hereof until the said Henry Halsey shall have Signed a Memorandum to be indorsed hereon that these Presents have been made and executed and have been so made at his Request and by his Direction And that he will Pay the Fine and Fees of such Admission and other Costs and Charges in the Law relating thereto and of these Presents In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Philip Dayrolle have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Second day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six __ T.P. Dayrolles _ Sealed and delivered being first duly Stampt in the Presence of _ John Gawler.
I the within named Henry Halsey do hereby declare that the within written Power of Attorney was made and executed at my Request And that I will pay the Fine and Fees of the Admission to the within mentioned Copyhold Premises and other Costs and Charges relating thereto __ H T Halsey _”
Whereupon the said Thomas Philip Dayrolle by the said John Hollest his Attorney humbly prayed to be admitted to All those the said several parcels of Arable and Wood Ground called Widestrod and Newlands Burchet And also One Grove of Wood containing by Estimation two Acres called Gonwin’s Grove and one Plot of Land containing by estimation Seven Acres in Bisley Wood formerly William Martins And also one Croft called Newins lying near Ramhurst Heath All which said Premises contain together by estimation Thirty and Three acres little more or less and are Situate in Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor To Whom the Lord of the said Manor by the said Deputy Steward granted the same To Hold to him the said Thomas Philip Dayrolles his Heirs and Assigns forever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and ten Pence and four Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain on the death of every Tenant in lieu of and in full satisfaction for an Heriot and by other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right Accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£40] He is by his said attorney Admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after such the Admittance of the said Thomas Philip Dayrolles He the said Thomas Philip Dayrolles by the said John Hollest his Attorney by Virtue of the said Deed Poll or Power of Attorney Surrendered by the Rod into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All those the said several parcels of Arable and Wood Ground called Widestrod and Newlands Burchet And also One Grove of Wood containing by estimation two Acres called Gonwin’s Grove and One Plot of Land containing by estimation Seven Acres in Bisley Wood formerly William Martins And also one Croft called Newins lying near Ramhurst Heath All which said Premises contain together by estimation Thirty and Three acres little more or less and are Situate in Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor by Copy of Court Roll under the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and ten Pence and other Customs and Services and to which the said Thomas Philip Dayrolles by his said Attorney was just before Admitted To the only proper use and behoof of Henry Halsey of Henley Park in the County of Surry Esquire his heirs and assigns forever and to or for no other use Intent or Purpose whatsoever Whereupon the said Henry Halsey being present in Court in his proper Person Prayed to be admitted to All those the said several parcels of Arable and Wood Ground called Widestrod and Newlands Burchet And also One Grove of Wood containing by estimation two Acres called Gonwin’s Grove and One Plot of Land containing by estimation Seven Acres in Bisley Wood formerly William Martins And also one Croft called Newins lying near Ramhurst Heath All which said Premises contain together by estimation Thirty and Three acres little more or less and are Situate in Bisley aforesaid and held of the said Manor by Copy of Court Roll under the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and ten Pence and other Customs and Services To whom the Lord of the said Manor by the said Deputy Steward granted the same To Hold to him the said Henry Halsey his Heirs and Assigns forever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and ten Pence and four Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain on the death of every Tenant in lieu of and in full satisfaction for an Heriot and by other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right Accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£30] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after such the Admission of the said Henry Halsey He being still present in Court in his proper Person Surrendered by the Rod into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor The said Parcels of Land to which he had been just before Admitted To the use and behoof of such Person or Persons and to and for such Uses Intents and Purposes as he the said Henry Halsey shall in and by his last Will and Testament direct limit or appoint the same.
Also at this Court came into Court in his proper person Thomas Searle and produced the probate of the Will of George Rempnant deceased which Will is dated the Seventh day of January One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy four In which is the following Clause Viz.t “I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Mary now the Wife of Thomas Searle for the Term of her Natural life All that my Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premises lying near the Ford of Bisley aforesaid formerly the Estate of William Millest containing by estimation Twenty eight acres more or less And from and after her Decease I give and bequeath my said House and Lands to and amongst my three Grandsons that is to say Thomas William and James Sons of my said Daughter Mary Searle to them their Heirs and Assigns forever They paying out of the same into their Father Thomas Searle the Sum of Ten Pounds a year and every year for the Term of his natural life And I charge the said House and Lands as above directed” Whereupon the said Thomas Searle humbly prayed to be admitted to the Reversion or Remainder expectant on the death of Mary Searle his Mother of and in One undivided third part or share of and in All that customary Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances called or known by the name of Collyers with the Edifices Buildings Barn Stable Garden Orchard and all and Singular the Customary arable Meadow and Pasture Lands to the same Messuage belonging and appertaining situate lying and being in the Parish of Bisley within the said Manor To whom the Lord of the said Manor by the said Deputy Steward granted the same To Hold to him the said Thomas Searle his Heirs and Assigns forever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and three Pence by Apportionment Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£5] He is admitted Tenant thereof accordingly hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after such the Admission of the said Thomas Searle he the said Thomas Searle being still in Court in his proper Person Surrendered by the Rod into the Hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All that his one undivided third part or share of and in the Reversion or Remainder expectant on the death of Mary Searle his Mother of and in All that customary Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances called or known by the name of Collyers with the Edifices Buildings Barn Stable Garden Orchard and all and Singular the Customary arable Meadow and Pasture Lands to the same Messuage belonging and appertaining situate lying and being in the Parish of Bisley within this Manor to which he was just before admitted To the only use and Behoof of James Trigg of Wokeing in the said County of Surrey Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns forever And to or for no other use Intent or Purpose whatsoever Whereupon the said James Trigg being present in Court in his proper person humbly prayed to be admitted to All that one undivided third part or share of and in the Reversion or Remainder expectant on the death of the said Mary Searle Of and in All that the said customary Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances called or known by the name of Collyers with the Edifices Buildings Barn Stable Garden Orchard and all and Singular the Customary arable Meadow and Pasture Lands to the same Messuage belonging and appertaining situate lying and being in the Parish of Bisley within this Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the Surrender of the said Thomas Searle To whom the Lord of the said Manor by the said Deputy Steward granted the same To Hold to him the said James Trigg his Heirs and Assigns forever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the Yearly Rent of Three Shillings and three Pence by Apportionment Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [£5] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
