Bisley Manor Court Roll 7 January 1897
At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Thursday the seventh day of January in the sixtieth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven Before Humphrey Percy Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy of Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.
Death of Sarah Elizabeth Colebrook
At this Court came here into Court Edwin Albery of Midhurst in the County of Sussex Gentleman and Richard Sparkes of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman by John Mudge Furneaux their Attorney and informed the said Deputy Steward that Sarah Elizabeth Colebrook late one of the copyhold or customary tenants of this Manor who held to her and her heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor One messuage garden Orchard and the land thereto belonging with the appurtenances formerly in the occupation of John Snelling afterwards of James Martin since of Richard Daborn afterwards of Stephen Collyer and late of James Collyer by the yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs to which she was admitted tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the thirteenth day of June One thousand eight hundred and seventy three died since the last General Court so thereof seized
Her Will
And the said Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes by the said John Mudge Furneaux their Attorney produced to the said Deputy Steward the Probate of the last Will and Testament of the said Sarah Elizabeth Colebrook which Will bears date the first day of June One thousand eight hundred and ninety four Whereby she appointed the said Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes executors of her Will And after bequeathing certain specific and pecuniary legacies therein particularly mentioned she devised appointed and bequeathed The rest of the estate and effects whatsoever which she might be possessed of or entitled to at her decease on which she might have any power to appoint or dispose of by that her Will unto the said Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes (thereinafter called “the Trustees”) for all the estate and interest which she could dispose of therein respectively Upon trust as in the said Will mentioned
Admission of Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court the said Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes by the said John Mudge Furneaux their Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenants to All that the said one messuage garden orchard and the land thereto belonging with the appurtenances formerly in the occupation of John Snelling afterwards of James Martin since of Richard Daborn afterwards of Stephen Collyer and late of James Collyer which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Sarah Elizabeth Colebrook To whom the Lord of the manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Edwin Albery and Richard Sparkes their heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Four pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so they were by their said Attorney admitted tenants thereof in form aforesaid. Gave to the Lord as a fine for such their admittance as appears in the margin [First Life £10 Second Life £5] and their fealty was respited
