At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Saturday the twenty third day of February in the twenty fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and sixty one Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Courts of the said Manor.

Absolute Surrender James Bedford to Thomas Baxter
At this Court came here into Court in his Proper Person James Bedford of Knaphill in the Parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Grocer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor  and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred and ninety five Pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English Value and Currency to him paid by Thomas Baxter of Saint Martins Stamford in the County of Northampton Veterinary Surgeon Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Copyhold Close or Parcel of Arable Land situate at Bisley aforesaid Containing by estimation five acres and seven perches more or less in the occupation of Joseph Bedford afterwards of Stephen Steptoe and then James Hill Stephen Steptoe and the said James Bedford together with the messuage or Tenement thereon erected and built and now in the occupation of the said Thomas Baxter to which said Premises the said James Bedford was admitted Tenant at a General Court held for this Manor on the thirtieth day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty one To the only proper and absolute use and Behoof of the said Thomas Baxter his heirs and assigns for ever

Admittance of Thomas Baxter
Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Thomas Baxter and humbly Prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said Copyhold Close or parcel of land together with the messuage or Tenement thereon erected in pursuance of the said Surrender  To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod  To hold to the said Thomas Baxter his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of four pence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid  Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£14] and his fealty was respited.

Conditional Surrender Thomas Baxter to Thomas Hockley
At this Court came here into Court in his Proper Person the said Thomas Baxter one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor personally and and [sic] in consideration of the sum of One hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to him paid by Thomas Hockley of Thorley Vicarage in the Isle of Wight Clerk Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Copyhold Close or Parcel of Arable land situate at Bisley aforesaid containing by estimation five Acres and seven perches more or less late in the occupation of Joseph Bedford afterwards of Stephen Steptoe and then of James Hill Stephen Steptoe and James Bedford together with the messuage or Tenement thereon erected and built and now in the occupation of the said Thomas Baxter to which Premises the said Thomas Baxter had at this Court immediately before been admitted  To the use and Behoof of the said Thomas Hockley his heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Upon Condition nevertheless to be void if the said Thomas Baxter his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly Pay or Cause to be Paid unto the said Thomas Hockley his executors administrators or assigns the full sum of One hundred pounds together with interest for the same at and after the rate of five pounds for One hundred pounds for a year of lawful money on the twenty third day of August now next ensuing

 [Margin note: Be it Remembered that on the twenty first day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty six Thomas Hockley in this Surrender named did acknowledge that he had received all principal and interest money due on this Surrender And the said Thomas Hockley did by writing under his hand of that date authorize and require the Steward of this Manor to enter his acknowledgement of having received such satisfaction upon the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly Witness my hand Joseph Hockley]
