At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held in and for the said Manor on Wednesday the Tenth day of February in the forty eighth year of the Reign of King George the third One thousand eight hundred and eight Before Joseph Pickstone Gentleman Steward there.

The Homage aforesaid being Sworn and Charged on their oaths Do say and Present that James Martin one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs of the Lord of this Manor by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor A Customary Messuage or Tenement called Belfors with the Barns Edifices Gardens Orchards and Curtilages to the same belonging with the appurtenances And also All the Customary Lands to the same belonging formerly in the tenure or occupation of William Cobbett lying in Bisley within this Manor by the yearly Rent of Two shillings Heriot Suit of Court and other Services Died since the last General Court Baron holden for this Manor so thereof Seized whereupon two Heriots to wit the two best live Animals of the said James Martin became due to the Lord of this Manor And one Horse and one Pig of the value of Fifteen Pounds were Seized accordingly But that the Lord of this Manor considering the large Family and indifferent Circumstances of the said James Martin Did for this turn only out of his special Grace and favor accept and take the Sum of Five Shillings only in Lieu of the said Fifteen Pounds And that the said James Martin Did in and by his last Will and Testament in writing dated the Twenty fourth day of September One thousand eight hundred and three the Probate Copy whereof was now produced in Court Devise as follows to wit “I Give Devise and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Sarah Martin All those my two Copyhold Estates situate in Bisley aforesaid to which I was admitted Tenant according to the Custom of the said Manor the Eighth Day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty three with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during her natural Life And after her Decease I Give devise and bequeath the same unto and amongst all my Children as shall be then living share and share alike And in Case any of my Children shall happen to die leaving any Child or Children then I direct that the share of him so dying leaving Children shall be equally divided amongst his Children or if only one Child then to such only Child “ Now at this Court came into Court in her proper person the said Sarah Martin and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Messuage called Belfors with the Lands and appurtenances thereto belonging which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said James Martin To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered Seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Sarah Martin for and during her natural Life by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of Two Shillings Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord for a Fine for such her Estate to be had in the premises as appears afterwards And her Fealty was pardoned.
And again came here into Court in her proper person the said Sarah Martin and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said Five acres and an half of Land lying in divers places dispersedly in Bisley which also came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Death of the said James Martin To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered Seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Sarah Martin for and during her natural Life by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of Ten Pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord for a Fine for this and her said former Admittance Eight Pounds and Eight Shillings for this Turn only through favor of the Lord for the Reasons above assigned And her Fealty was pardoned.
At this Court came here into Court in his proper person John Lipscomb of Horsell yeoman one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid and according to the Custom of this Manor All his Copyhold or Customary Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments held as parcel of this Manor To the use and behoof of such person or persons and for such estate and interest therein as he shall in and by his last Will and Testament in Writing Give Devise Limit Direct or Appoint the same.
