At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable Richard William Alan Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Thursday the sixteenth day of August in the fourteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Fifth and in the year of our Lord One thousand nine hundred and twenty three
Before Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.

Death of Stephen Steptoe
At this Court came here into Court Stephen Steptoe of Goodener’s Farm Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer by Charles John Barlow his Attorney and informed the said Steward that Stephen Steptoe (his father) late one of the copyhold or customary tenants of this Manor who held to him and his heirs by copy of Court Roll at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said Manor All that copyhold cottage or tenement with the turf house garden and orchard and all other the appurtenances situate lying and being between Cowshot and Staveck Lane in Bisley within the said Manor by the yearly rent of fourpence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs (To which the said Stephen Steptoe (the elder) was admitted tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the twenty ninth day of May One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven) And also all those four acres called Radsells’ lying in two closes within this Manor one close whereof is arable land and the other meadow ground by the yearly rent of eightpence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs (To which said last mentioned premises the said Stephen Steptoe (the elder) was admitted tenant at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the sixteenth day of May One thousand eight hundred and sixty five) died since the last General Court to wit on the third day of April One thousand eight hundred and ninety two so thereof seised whereupon two heriots to wit the two best live beasts of the said Stephen Steptoe (the elder) became due to the Lord of this Manor but nothing was seized.
His Will
And the said Stephen Steptoe (the Younger) by the said Charles John Barlow his Attorney also produced to the said Steward the Probate of the last Will and Testament of the said Stephen Steptoe (the Elder)which Will bears date the sixteenth day of December One thousand eight hundred and eighty four and was proved in the Principal Probate Registry of his Majesty’s High Court of Justice on the seventeenth day of June One thousand eight hundred and ninety two Whereby the said Testator gave and devised all that his copyhold messuage or tenement pieces or parcels of land thereunto belonging and adjoining called or known as Goodeners and Radsells at Bisley aforesaid unto his son Stephen Steptoe his heirs and assigns subject to any sum that might be secured thereon by way of equitable mortgage or otherwise and also subject to the payment of three several sums of Fifty pounds each to his (Testators) wife Martha Steptoe his son William Henry Steptoe and his son Joseph Steptoe which sums have long since been released And he appointed his said three sons Stephen William Henry and Joseph to be Executors of that his Will

Admission of Stephen Steptoe  1st Copy
Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court the said Stephen Steptoe (the Younger) by his said Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to copyhold cottage or tenement with the turf house garden and orchard or backside and all other the appurtenances situate lying and being between Cowshot and Staveck Lane in Bisley within the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the death of the said Stephen Steptoe the elder  To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seisin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Stephen Steptoe the Younger his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of four pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefor formerly due and of right accustomed And so the said Stephen Steptoe (the younger) was by his said Attorney admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid gave to the lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [Fine after] and his fealty was respited

Also at this Court upon the first proclamation came here again into Court the said Stephen Steptoe (the Younger) by his said Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to All those the said four acres called Radsells’ lying in two closes within this Manor one close whereof is arable land and the other meadow ground which came into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor on the death of the said Stephen Steptoe the elder  To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seisin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Stephen Steptoe the Younger his heirs and assigns for ever by copy of Court Roll at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of eight pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefor formerly due and of right accustomed And so the said Stephen Steptoe the younger was by his said Attorney admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid gave to the lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [Fine for both £32] and his fealty was respited
