At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Tuesday the First day of August in the sixty third year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine Before Humphrey Percy Smallpeice Gentleman Deputy of Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Chief Steward there.

Absolute Surrender
James Skipper and Ellen Augusta Skipper to Alfred Horace Thornton

At this Court came here into Court Alfred Horace Thornton of Windsor in the County of Berks Gentleman by John Mudge Furneaux his Attorney and delivered to the said Deputy Steward a certain Absolute Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court to wit on the tenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and ninety nine Whereby James Skipper of Wisdom Farm Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer and Ellen Augusta Skipper his wife in consideration of the sum of Three hundred pounds to them paid by the said Alfred Horace Thornton did surrender into the hands of the Lord of the Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said John Mudge Furneaux Deputy for that turn and purpose only of the said Steward according to the custom of the said Manor All that piece or parcel of land formerly part of the Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid containing One acre or thereabouts and bounded on the North and East by other part of Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid and on the South and West sides by land belonging to the War Department and contains in width from East to West One hundred and ninety five feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the West side thereof Two hundred and twenty nine feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the East side thereof One hundred and twenty five feet or thereabouts the boundary of the said piece of land on the North side running in a line from the outside post of the small gateway at the entrance to Wisdoms Farm through the base of the plum tree and which said piece or parcel of land is more particularly delineated in the map or plan drawn in the margin of the said Surrender and thereon coloured red and also full and free right and liberty to pass and repass over and along the road or way used as the entrance to Wisdoms Farm either with or without horses carts and carriages at all times and for all purposes but such right of way shall extend for a distance of twelve feet only along such road or way  To all which said hereditaments and premises the said Ellen Augusta Skipper was admitted Tenant on the tenth day of June One thousand eight hundred and ninety nine To the use of the said Alfred Horace Thornton his heirs and assigns at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor at and under the rents suits and services therefore due and of right accustomed

And thereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court the said Alfred Horace Thornton by the said John Mudge Furneaux his Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said piece or parcel of land forming part of the Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid containing One acre or thereabouts and bounded on the North and East by other part of Wisdoms Farm Bisley aforesaid and on the South and West sides by land belonging to the War Department and contains in width from East to West One hundred and ninety five feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the West side thereof Two hundred and twenty nine feet or thereabouts and in depth from North to South on the East side thereof One hundred and twenty five feet or thereabouts the boundary of the said piece of land on the North side running in a line from the outside post of the small gateway at the entrance to Wisdoms Farm through the base of the plum tree and which said piece or parcel of land is more particularly delineated in the map or plan drawn in the margin of the said Surrender and thereon coloured red and also full and free right and liberty to pass and repass over and along the road or way used as the entrance to Wisdoms Farm either with or without horses carts and carriages at all times and for all purposes but such right of way shall extend for a distance of twelve feet only along such road or way To whom the Lord of the manor aforesaid by his Deputy Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Alfred Horace Thornton his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly apportioned rent of One penny Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so the said Alfred Horace Thornton was by his said Attorney admitted tenant thereof accordingly Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the margin [£7 10s] had seizin by the Rod and his fealty was respited
