At a General Court Baron of The Right Honorable William Hillier Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held in and for the said Manor on Wednesday the Sixteenth day of August in the Fortieth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy six Before Frederic Ferdinand Smallpeice Gentleman Steward there.

Absolute Surrender
Daniel Gosden and Sarah his wife to The Reverend William Tringham
The Homage aforesaid being sworn and charged on their Oath do present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last General Court to wit on the thirteenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and seventy five Whereby Daniel Gosden of Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer and Sarah his Wife in consideration of the sum of Three hundred pounds to the said Daniel Gosden and Sarah his Wife paid by The Reverend William Tringham of Busbridge Godalming in the County of Surrey Clerk in Holy Orders (the said Sarah Gosden having been first examined by the Deputy Steward separately and apart from her said husband and voluntarily consenting thereto) did Surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said manor by the hands and acceptance of Mark Smallpeice Deputy Steward of the said Manor according to the custom of the said manor First All that one parcel of land containing by estimation two acres called Pococks Field abutting on the west and south on land of the said William Tringham on the north on land of The Reverend Sumner and on the east on the piece of land next hereinafter mentioned And also All that one other parcel of land containing by estimation one quarter of an acre lying within the said manor and abutting towards the west on the parcel of land hereinbefore described and towards the East on a Cottage late in the occupation of _________ Eales belonging to Mrs Colebrook (to all which said premises the said Sarah Gosden was admitted at a General Court Baron holden for the said manor on the sixteenth day of December One thousand eight hundred and forty two on the death of William Eacott by description of one parcel of land containing by estimation two acres abutting on the Parsonage Mead on the East And also one other parcel of land containing by estimation one quarter of an acre lying within the said manor) And also secondly All that parcel of land containing by estimation four acres more or less called Stimsons part of a certain parcel of land formerly of Sarah Stimson containing five acres or thereabouts heretofore enclosed out of the Common Field called Neltro with the appurtenances and which parcel of land abuts towards the North on land of William Eacott on the East on land of Joshua Turner on the south partly on land of Charles Robinson and partly on land of William Chandler and on the west by the parcel of land thirdly and next hereinafter mentioned (to all which said premises secondly hereinbefore described the said Sarah Gosden was admitted at the said General Court Baron holden for the said manor on the sixteenth day of December One thousand eight hundred and forty two on the death of William Eacott by description of “All that parcel of land containing by estimation four acres more or less part of a certain parcel of land then late of Sarah Stimson containing five acres or thereabouts theretofore enclosed out of the Common Field called Neltro with the appurtenances) And also thirdly All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing two roods and nine perches situate and being in Neltro or Nultrow Common Field aforesaid and bounded on the North by the Allotment awarded to William Eacott numbered 11 on the Plan of the Inclosure Award of Bisley Common Fields on the east by the piece or parcel of land secondly hereinbefore described on the South by lands belonging to the Estate of Edmund Vincent deceased and on the west by an Allotment by the said Award awarded to Sarah Marshall which said piece of land now in description is numbered 6 on the said Plan and was by the Award of the Commissioner for enclosing Bisley Common Fields dated the sixth day of August One thousand eight hundred and fifty eight allotted unto and for the said Daniel Gosden and Sarah his Wife in lieu of and for all the lands grounds rights of Common and all other rights property and interest Copyhold of the said Manor of Bisley to which the said Daniel Gosden and Sarah his Wife in right of her the said Sarah Gosden were entitled in over and upon the lands and grounds agreed to be divided by the said Commissioner being All those four several pieces of land containing together by estimation one acre more or less part of four acres of land lying in the Common Field called Widecroft within the said Manor one of which said four pieces of land abutted on the west part to land late of William Smith and afterwards of John Mersh on the east to the land of the devisees of Joseph Bell on the north to land late of James Loveland and on the South to land late of Mrs Geale and afterwards of the representatives of the said John Loveland deceased one other of the said pieces of land abutted on land of devisees of Joseph Bell on the West and North and to the lands late of Mrs Geale and afterwards of the Representatives of the said John Loveland deceased on the east and south one other of the said pieces of land abutted on lands late of Mrs Geale and afterwards of the Representatives of the late John Loveland deceased on the west east and south parts and on lands of the devisees of Joseph Bell on the North and the other piece of land abutted on lands late of Mrs Geale and afterwards of the Representatives of the late John Loveland deceased on the west to inclosed land late of James Loveland on the south to land of the devisees of Joseph Bell on the North and to land late of Ann Waterer and afterwards of Elizabeth Chandler on the West to which said last mentioned four several pieces of land the said Sarah Gosden then Sarah Eacott Spinster was admitted at a General Court Baron holden for the said manor on the twenty fourth day of October One thousand eight hundred and thirty three on the Surrender of John Edwards To the use of the said William Tringham his heirs and assigns for ever at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor at and under the suits services rents fines and heriots therefor due and of right accustomed
Admittance of William Tringham
Now at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here into Court the said William Tringham by Humphrey Percy Smallpeice his Attorney and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that the said one parcel of land containing by estimation two acres called Pococks Field abutting on the west and south on land of the said William Tringham on the north on land of The Reverend Mr Sumner and on the east on the piece of land next hereinafter mentioned And also All that the said one other parcel of land containing by estimation one quarter of an acre lying within the said manor and abutting towards the west on the parcel of land hereinbefore described and towards the East on a Cottage late in the occupation of _______ Eales belonging to Mrs Colebrook in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said William Tringham his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of sixpence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was by his said Attorney admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears afterwards and his fealty was respited.

The Homage also present a certain Power of Attorney bearing date the tenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and seventy five under the hands and seals of Thomas Heckstall Smith Edmund Boyle Church and Joseph Prior in the words following - Know all Men by these Presents that He Thomas Heckstall Smith of Rowlands St Mary Cray in the County of Kent Esquire Edmund Boyle Church of The Bank Highgate in the County of Middlesex Esquire and Joseph Prior of No. 61 Lincolns Inn Fields in the County of Middlesex Gentleman Devisees of Trust and Mortgaged Estates under the Last Will and Testament of Sarah Marshall late of Broadwater in the parish of Godalming in the County of Surrey Widow deceased three of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey Have made ordained constituted and appointed And by these presents Do make ordain constitute and appoint Hugh Framingham Day of Godalming in the County of Surrey Gentleman and John Debenham the younger of Godalming aforesaid Attorney’s Clerk jointly and severally our true and lawful Attorneys for us and in our and each of our names to appear at the next or any subsequent general or Special Court Baron to be holden for the said manor and then and there or out of Court to Surrender into the hands of the Lord or Lady Lords or Ladies of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the Steward or Deputy Steward for the time being according to the custom of the said Manor the following copyhold hereditaments held of the said Manor. Firstly All that one Close of Customary arable land containing by estimation One acre more or less now commonly known as “Black Jacks” situate near to Bisley Church and containing by admeasurement One acre one rood and three perches which said close formerly formed part and parcel of the copyhold premises described in the Court Rolls of the said Manor as “All that customary messuage or tenement with the Orchard formerly in the tenure of Philip Roberts and one close of land to the same belonging containing by estimation one acre more or less and one acre of land more or less in Neltro with the appurtenances” Secondly All that one close of customary land late Woodland containing two Acres now commonly known as “Smiths Plat” and containing by admeasurement Two acres and one perch and Thirdly All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing One Acre two roods and twenty nine perches situate and being in Neltro Common Field and bounded on the North by old enclosed lands belonging in part to ______ and in part to ________ and also by the allotment N.od 9 on the Inclosure Plan and the allotment next hereinafter described and N.od 5 on the same plan on the East by a road leading from Guildford to Bisley on the South by the Allotments awarded to William Eacott and N.od 10 and 11 on the same plan and on the West by the Allotment awarded to William Chandler and N.od 8 on the same plan which said piece of land was N.od 4 on the said plan And also All that piece or parcel of old inclosed land late the property of the said William Chandler containing Twenty one perches and bounded on the North by other old inclosed land of the said William Chandler and on the South and East and West by the said Allotment N.od 4 on the said Inclosure plan which said Allotment last hereinbefore described is N.od 5 on the said plan and which premises Secondly and Thirdly hereinbefore described are the Copyhold premises formerly described on the Court Rolls of the said Manor as “All that one close of customary arable land late Woodland containing by estimation two acres more or less and two acres of land more or less lying in the Common Field called North Hill” to all which said hereditaments the said Thomas Heckstall Smith Edmund Boyle Church and Joseph Prior were admitted Tenants at a General Court Baron held for the said Manor on the Twelfth day of June One thousand eight hundred and seventy four as Devisees of the said Sarah Marshall deceased Together with all rights of common fences hedges ditches ways watercourses easements and appurtenances to the same premises belonging or in anywise appertaining And all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever at Law and in Equity of them the said Thomas Heckstall Smith Edmund Boyle Church and Joseph Prior in to and out of the said premises and every part thereof To the use of the said James Hone his heirs and assigns at the Will of the Lord of the said Manor according to the custom of the said Manor by and under the suits and services rents fines and heriots therefore due and of right accustomed and for us and in our and each of our names and name to do and execute all and every such acts matters and things as may be needful or expedient for making such Surrender as aforesaid and for procuring the said James Hone his heirs or assigns to be admitted Tenant to the said Copyhold premises and as fully and effectually to all intents and purposes as we ourselves might or could do being personally present hereby agreeing to ratify and confirm all and whatsoever our said Attorneys shall lawfully do or cause to be done by virtue of these presents In witness whereof we the said Thomas Heckstall Smith Edmund Boyle Church and Joseph Prior have hereunto set our hands and seals the tenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and seventy five. Also at this Court the First Proclamation was made for the said James Hone or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that one close of customary land late Woodland containing two Acres now commonly known as “Smiths Plat” and containing by admeasurement Two acres and one perch And also All that piece or parcel of land or ground containing One Acre two roods and twenty nine perches situate and being in Neltro Common Field and bounded on the North by old enclosed lands belonging in part to ______ and in part to ________ and also by the allotment No.d 9 on the Inclosure Plan and the allotment next hereinafter described and Numbered 5 on the same Plan on the East by a road leading from Guildford to Bisley on the South by the Allotments awarded to William Eacott and Numbered 10 and 11 on the same Plan and on the West by the Allotment awarded to William Chandler and Numbered 8 on the said plan which said piece of land was Numbered 4 on the said Plan And also All that piece or parcel of old inclosed land late the property of the said William Chandler containing twenty one perches and bounded on the North by other old inclosed land of the said William Chandler and on the South and East and West by the said Allotment Numbered 4 on the said Inclosure Plan which said Allotment last hereinbefore described is Numbered 5 on the said Plan which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Surrender of the said Thomas Heckstall Smith Joseph Prior and Edmund Boyle Church to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.
Will of Joshua Turner
The Homage also present that Joshua Turner (whose death was presented at the last General Court Baron holden in and for this Manor) duly made his Will bearing date the thirteenth day of March One thousand eight hundred and seventy five the original whereof is now produced and read in open Court Whereby he gave devised and bequeathed All his real and personal Estate and effects unto and to the use of his wife Mary Turner her heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely and appointed his said Wife his Executrix.
Admittance of Mary Turner
Now at this Court upon the second Proclamation came here into Court in her proper person the said Mary Turner and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one acre of land lying (in two several pieces) in the Common Field called Burcroft within the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Joshua Turner To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Mary Turner her heirs and assigns for ever (subject to a Conditional Surrender thereof made to Samuel Higgott dated the sixth day of April One thousand eight hundred and fifty three) by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such her admittance as appears afterwards and her fealty was pardoned.

Also at this Court upon the second Proclamation came here again into Court in her proper person the said Mary Turner and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one acre of land lying in the Common Field called Widecroft with the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Joshua Turner To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Mary Turner her heirs and assigns for ever (subject to the aforementioned Conditional Surrender) by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so she was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such her two several admittances as appears in the Margin [Fine for both £5] and her fealty was pardoned.
Will of John Slann
The Homage also present that John Slann (whose death was presented at the last General Court Baron holden in and for this Manor) duly made his Will bearing date the twenty fifth day of January One thousand eight hundred and fifty five the original whereof is now produced and read in open Court Whereby amongst other things he gave devised and bequeathed unto his dear Wife Mary Ann Slann All his Copyhold property held under the Lord of the Manor of Miles’s Green Bisley in the County of Surrey to be enjoyed by her for and during the term of her natural life But it was his further desire that immediately upon and after her decease that the same should become the property of his dear daughter Georgiana Mary Ann Slann and to her and her heirs absolutely for ever
Deaths of Mary Ann Slann and Georgiana Mary Ann Slann
The Homage also present that Mary Ann Slann the wife of the Testator in his said Will mentioned died previously to the said Testator and that the said Georgiana Mary Ann Slann the daughter of the Testator in his said Will mentioned hath also since the decease of the said testator departed this life (she being then the Wife of William Carter) and that William Job Carter is her eldest son and heir according to the custom of this Manor.
Second Proclamation on death of John Slann
Now at this Court the second Proclamation was made for the said William Job Carter or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that Cottage or tenement erected and built by Edmund Vincent together with the garden and yard used therewith formerly in the occupation of Joseph Pearce containing altogether a scite of eighty rods or there abouts situate lying and being at Miles Green in the Parish of Bisley and part and parcel of certain lands called Wheat Leaze with the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said John Slann to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the second Proclamation and default are here inrolled.
Second Proclamation on death of same
Also at this Court the second Proclamation was made for the said __________ Carter or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that piece or parcel of land heretofore waste of this Manor containing about half a rod in width and ten rods in length more or less being contiguous to and in front of his property at Bisley aforesaid bounded on the North by the premises of the said John Slann on the South East and West by the Green at Bisley which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said John Slann to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the second Proclamation and default are here inrolled.
Death of Ann Searle
The Homage also present that Ann Searle who was the last survivor of herself Henry Searle and George Dean late three of the Copyhold or Customary tenants of this manor who held to them and their heirs (upon and subject to the trusts mentioned in the last Will and Testament of James Searle deceased) by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor All that Messuage or tenement with the edifices buildings barn stable garden and orchard thereunto belonging And also all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Orchard Field and containing by estimation two acres And also all piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Ford Mead and containing by estimation three acres and an half And also all piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Coneybury Field containing by estimation three acres together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same messuage or Tenement pieces or parcels of land belong situate lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said Manor by the yearly rent of Three shillings and three pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a Heriot of the best beast became due to the Lord of this manor but none was seized because the said Ann Searle had no live beast at the time of her death.

Now at this Court the first Proclamation was made for the heir at law of the said Ann Searle deceased or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that the said Messuage or tenement with the edifices buildings barn stable garden and orchard thereunto belonging And also all that piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Orchard Field and containing by estimation two acres And also all piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Ford Mead and containing by estimation three acres and an half And also all piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Coneybury Field containing by estimation three acres together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same messuage or Tenement pieces or parcels of land belong situate lying and being in the parish of Bisley within the said Manor which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Ann Searle to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first Proclamation and default are here inrolled.
Death of Charles Baker
The Homage also present that Charles Baker late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor (subject to a Conditional Surrender thereof to William Potterton dated the Eleventh day of June One thousand eight hundred and fifty nine) All those three acres of land whereon a Messuage has been erected with the appurtenances formerly part of the waste of the said Manor lying at Hassell Hall between Cowshot and Staveck Lane in Bisley within the said Manor formerly in the tenure or occupation of Robert Goodener his undertenants or assigns since of James Faggetter and John Tyler afterwards of Abraham Groves and now or late of Charles Boylett with the appurtenances by the yearly rent of Six pence Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs died since the last Court so thereof seized Whereupon a Heriot of the best beast became due to the Lord of this manor but none was seized because the said Charles Baker had no live beast at the time of his death.
