The General Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor there held in and for the said Manor on Tuesday the sixteenth day of April in the seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen defender of the Faith And in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward there.

Absolute Surrender William Woods to James Collyer
The Homage aforesaid being sworn and charged on their Oath present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the seventh day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty three Whereby William Woods of Knaphill in the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Farmer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor in consideration of the Sum of forty five pounds to him paid by James Collyer of Knaphill in the parish of Horsell in the said County Labourer did surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward of the said Manor according to the custom thereof  All that piece or parcel of Land late parcel of the Waste of the said Manor lying near Riding Hill containing by estimation eighty Rods more or less lately enclosed by James Hill and upon which he erected and set up a cottage or Tenement together with the said Cottage or Tenement and the appurtenances To the use and behoof of the said James Collyer his heirs and assigns for ever.
1st Proclamation
Now at this Court the first proclamation was made for the said James Collyer or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to All that the said piece or parcel of Land containing by estimation eighty Rods more or less together with the Cottage or Tenement thereon erected with the appurtenances Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the Surrender of William Woods to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Conditional Surrender John Loveland to James Morris
The Homage also present a certain other Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey. Be it remembered that on the twentieth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three John Loveland of Bisley in the said County of Surrey Farmer one of the copyhold or customary Tenants of the said Manor personally came before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Court of the said Manor out of Court and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to him the said John Loveland in hand well and truly paid by James Morris of Guildford in the said County Currier Hath surrendered and Doth surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that Customary Messuage or tenement called Belfers with the Barns edifices Gardens Orchards and curtilages to the same belonging with the appurtenances And also all the Customary Lands to the same belonging formerly in the tenure or occupation of William Cobbett lying in Bisley within the said Manor And also five acres and an half of Customary Land with the appurtenances lying in divers places dispersedly in Bisley to which premises the said John Loveland was admitted Tenant at a Court Baron held for the said Manor on the ninth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty two And the Reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof And all the estate right title interest property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Loveland of into or out of the same premises and every part and parcel thereof To the only proper absolute Use and behoof of the said James Morris his heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon the express condition nevertheless that if the said John Loveland his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Morris his executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of one hundred pounds together with interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for one hundred pounds for a year of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency upon the twentieth day of May next ensuing the date hereof without any deduction or abatement to be made or taken out of the same on any account whatsoever and without fraud or further delay Then this Surrender to be void and of no effect otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue ~ John Loveland  This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Joseph Hockley Steward – Received on the day of the date of the above written Surrender of and from the above named James Morris the sum of one hundred pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by him to me. £100 John Loveland ~ Witness  Edmund Vincent
[Margin Note: Be it remembered that on the twenty first day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine George Morris Beck and Thomas Bowyer Executors of James Morris in this Surrender named did acknowledge that they had been paid and satisfied all Principal and interest money and all demands due on this Surrender and the said George Morris Beck and Thomas Bowyer did by writing under their hands of that date now empower encharge and desire the Steward of this Manor to enter their acknowledgement of having received such satisfaction upon the Court Rolls or Books accordingly – Witness my Hand Thomas Russell Steward]

Another Conditional Surrender John Loveland to James Morris
The Homage also present a certain other Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey. Be it remembered that on the twenty sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three John Loveland of Bisley in the said County of Surrey Farmer one of the copyhold or customary Tenants of the said Manor personally came before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Court of the said Manor out of Court and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to him the said John Loveland in hand well and truly paid by James Morris of Guildford in the said County Currier Hath surrendered and Doth surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that customary Messuage or tenement called Belfers with the Barns edifices Gardens Orchards and curtilages to the same belonging with the appurtenances And also all the Customary Lands to the same belonging formerly in the tenure or occupation of William Cobbett lying in Bisley within this Manor And also five acres and a half of Customary Land with the appurtenances lying in divers places dispersedly in Bisley to which premises the said John Loveland was admitted Tenant at a Court Baron held for the said Manor on the ninth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty two And the Reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof And all the estate right title interest property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Loveland of into or out of the same premises and every part and parcel thereof To the only proper and absolute Use and behoof of the said James Morris his heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon the express condition nevertheless that if the said John Loveland his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Morris his executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of one hundred pounds together with interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for one hundred pounds for a year of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency upon the twenty sixth day of June next ensuing the date hereof without any deduction or abatement to be made or taken out of the same on any account whatsoever and without fraud or further delay over and besides the principal Sum of one hundred pounds and interest from henceforth to grow due for the same secured by a conditional Surrender of the same premises made by the said John Loveland to the use of the said James Morris on the twentieth day of November now last past all interest for the said Sum of one hundred pounds being paid to the day of making this Surrender Then this Surrender to be void and of no effect otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue ~ John Loveland  This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Joseph Hockley Steward – Received on the day of the date of the above written Surrender of and from the above named James Morris the sum of one hundred pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by him to me. £100 John Loveland ~ Witness  Edmund Vincent

The Homage also present a certain other Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey. Be it remembered that on the twenty seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four William Chandler of Bisley in the said County of Surrey Farmer one of the Copyhold or customary Tenants of the said Manor personally came before Edmund Vincent Deputy of Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Court of the said Manor out of Court and in consideration of the Sum of five hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to him the said William Chandler in hand well and truly paid by Ann Chitty of Worplesdon in the said County Spinster Hath surrendered and Doth surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that one Messuage or Tenement called Goddins with a Barn and all other the Buildings Curtilages Gardens and orchards thereto belonging and three pieces of Land with the appurtenances thereto adjoining whereof one is called Mead close containing by estimation three acres with the appurtenances lying in Bisley within this Manor And also all those two closes of Arable Land containing by estimation three acres with the appurtenances in Bisley and to which premises the said William Chandler was admitted Tenant at a Court held in and for the said Manor on the twelfth day of June one thousand eight hundred and nine And also all that piece or parcel of Land called or known by the name of Westwood field and containing by estimation four acres And also all that piece or parcel of Land called or known by the name of Westwood Mead containing by estimation two acres And also all that piece or parcel of Land called or known by the name of Neltro common field in two pieces and containing by estimation two acres And also all that piece or parcel of Land called or known by the name of Butts field and containing by estimation two acres all which said Messuages or Tenements Lands hereditaments and premises are situate standing lying and being in the parish of Bisley in the said County of Surrey and within and held of the said Manor of Bisley and to which said last mentioned premises he the said William Chandler was admitted Tenant at a Court held in and for the said Manor the thirty first day of August one thousand eight hundred and twelve and which said Messuage or Tenement Lands hereditaments and premises are now in the tenure or occupation of the said William Chandler with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof And all the estate right title interest property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the said William Chandler of in to or out of the same premises and every part and parcel thereof To the only proper Use and behoof of the said Ann Chitty her heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon this condition nevertheless that if the said William Chandler his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Ann Chitty her executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of five hundred pounds together with interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for one hundred pounds for a year of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency upon the twenty seventh day of July next ensuing the date hereof without any deduction or abatement to be made or taken out of the same on any account whatsoever and without fraud or further delay Then this Surrender to be void and of no effect otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue ~ William Chandler  This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Edmund Vincent  Deputy Steward  In the presence of Henry Hibbit – Received on the day of the date of the above written Surrender of and from the above named Ann Chitty the sum of five hundred pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by her to me. £500 William Chandler ~ Witness  Henry Hibbit
[Margin Note: Be it remembered that a certain Statement of Authority in writing under the hands of James Goldsmith of Wilton near Portsea in the County of Hants Gentleman and Charles Topham Naylor of Newton Lodge Chapeltown Leeds in the County of York Esquire Barrister at law bearing date the 29th day of September 1888 has been presented to me whereby after reciting that by an Indenture dated the 1st day of September 1849 made be.en Ann Chitty in this Surrender named of the first part John Topham of the second part and James Stedman William Ingle the younger and James Goldsmith the younger of the third part (being a Settlement made previously to and in contemplation of a Marriage arranged between the said Ann Chitty and John Topham) the sum of five hundred pounds secured by this surrender together with all interest then or henceforth to become due for the same was alligned unto the said James Stedman William Ingle and James Goldsmith their executors administrators and assigns Upon certain trusts in the same Indenture particularly mentioned And reciting that shortly after the execution of the same Indenture a marriage was duly solemnised between the said Ann Chitty and John Topham And reciting that by an Indenture dated the 12th day of August 1882 and made between the said John Topham of the first part Charles Topham Naylor of the second part and the said James Goldsmith and Charles Topham Naylor of the third part after recitals whereby it appeared that the said Ann Topham (formerly Ann Chitty) and the said James Stedman and William Lyle were then dead It was witnessed that the said John Topham in exercise of the power given him by the before recited Indenture appointed the said Charles Topham Naylor to be a Trustee of the said before recited Indenture conjointly with the said James Goldsmith And it was thereby declared that the said James Goldsmith and Charles Topham Naylor their executors administrators and assigns should hold the securities set out in the Schedule thereunder written (which Schedule comprised the sum of five hundred pounds secured by this Surrender) and which were intended to be transferred into their names immediately after the execution of the recited Indenture and the income thereof Upon the Trusts and subject to the powers applicable thereto by virtue of the first recited Indenture.  And reciting that all principal and interest monies due and owing by virtue of this Surrender had been duly paid satisfied and discharged They the said James Goldsmith and Charles Topham Naylor being the parties entitled to receive and give a discharge for the principal and interest monies due and owing on this Surrender did thereby authorize and desire me to enter satisfaction of the same Surrender on the Rolls of the said Manor and which I have done accordingly.  As witness my hand Ferdinand Smallpeice  Steward]

Conditional Surrender William Eacott to Joseph Hewer
The Homage also present a certain other Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey. Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of February in the seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four William Eacott of the parish of Bisley in the said County of Surrey Farmer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor came before us Stephen Eacott and William Glazier two other Copyhold or customary Tenants of the said Manor in his proper person and in consideration of the Sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to him lent and advanced by Joseph Hewer hereinafter described by way of loan and at Interest upon the hereditaments and premises hereinafter mentioned out of Court Did surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of us the said two copyhold or Customary Tenants according to the custom of the said Manor All that piece of Land containing by estimation one acre more or less lying and being in the Common field called Neltro within the said Manor abutting towards the South on the Hedge there and towards the north on land of Sarah Sibthorpe and towards the east by land of James Nesmith and on the west by land of ________ Hammond And also all that one Messuage called Bonnells otherwise Edmeads with the Barns edifices Gardens Orchards Curtilages and three closes of land to the said Messuage adjoining and belonging containing by estimation seven acres one close of land called Long close containing by estimation one acre and two acres of Land lying in the Common field called Neltro abutting on the Land formerly of Sarah Millest on the South Lands of John Hone on the North and Lands of John Goring on the east to which the said William Eacott was admitted on the death of William Eacott his father at a Court Baron held for the said Manor on the sixteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty two And also all the estate right title interest use trust property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said William Eacott the son of in and to the same To the only use and behoof of Joseph Hewer of the parish of Chobham in the said County of Surrey Surgeon his heirs and assigns for ever at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon this condition nevertheless that if the said William Eacott the son his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Joseph Hewer his executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain current in England on the thirteenth day of August next ensuing the said surrender and which will be in the present year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four together with Interest for the same after the rate of five pounds per centum per annum without any deduction or abatement whatsoever for or by reason or on any account of any matter cause or thing whatsoever then the said Surrender shall be void and of no effect or else shall remain in full force and virtue ~ William Eacott  Taken and accepted the day and year first above written before and by us Tenants of the said Manor and within the said Manor Stephen Eacott Bisley Surrey Farmer  William Glazier Bisley Surrey Farmer – In the presence of St John John Mears Clerk to Mr Mears Sol.r Bagshot Surrey  Received on the day and year first above written of and from the above named Joseph Hewer the sum of two hundred pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by him to me. £200 William Eacott   St John John Mears

Conditional Surrender John Field to Clementine Clara Jane Hockley
The Homage also present a certain other Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court in the words following to wit “Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey. Be it remembered that on the nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four John Field late of the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Cordwainer but now of Bisley in the said County Husbandman one of the Copyhold or customary Tenants of the said Manor personally came before Edmund Vincent Deputy of Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Court of the said Manor out of Court and in consideration of the Sum of sixty pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in England to him in hand well and truly paid by Clementine Clara Jane Hockley of Guildford in the said County Spinster at or immediately before the making of this surrender Hath surrendered and Doth surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the custom of the said Manor All that piece or parcel of Land containing by estimation one Acre and an half or thereabouts now in the occupation of  the said John Field lying in Bisley Green in the parish and Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey together with the Messuage or tenement and other buildings thereupon lately erected and set up by the said John Field and which said piece or parcel of Land is part and parcel of certain premises heretofore described upon the Court Rolls of the said Manor as ‘all those pieces of Land being Coppice Ground containing by estimation one acre and an half called Brook Ground more or less and one Close of Land called Rough Ground containing by estimation three Acres with the appurtenances in Bisley’ held by the yearly rent of two shillings Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other customs and services To which premises the said John Field was admitted Tenant at a Special Court Baron held for the said Manor on the twenty eighth day of October one thousand eight hundred and thirty four And the Reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof And all the estate right title interest property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Field of in and to the same premises and every part and parcel thereof to the only proper use and behoof of the said Clementine Clara Jane Hockley her heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Provided always and upon this condition nevertheless that if the said John Field his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Clementine Clara Jane Hockley her executors administrators or assigns the full and just sum of sixty pounds together with interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for one hundred pounds for a year of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in England upon the nineteenth day of September next ensuing the date hereof without any deduction or abatement to be made or taken out of the same on any account whatsoever and without fraud or further delay Then this Surrender to be void and of no effect otherwise to remain in full force and virtue ~ John Field  This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Edmund Vincent Deputy Steward  Witness George White   Received on the day and year first above written of and from the above named Clementine Clara Jane Hockley the sum of sixty pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by her to me. £60 John Field ~ Witness  George White
[Margin Note: Be it remembered that on the first day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight Clementine Clara Jane Hockley by her then name of Clementine Clara Jane Low did acknowledge that she had that day been and satisfied all principal and Interest monies due and owing upon and by virtue of this Surrender And the said Clementine Clara Jane Low did by writing under her hand of that date authorize and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter her acknowledgement of having received the same and such satisfaction upon the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly – Witness my Hand Joseph Hockley Steward]

Death of Henry Hill
The Homage also present that Henry Hill one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor who held to him and his heirs by copy of Court at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor all that Copyhold Messuage or tenement with the Garden thereto belonging containing  by estimation one rood formerly belonging to Blanch Wisdom since of John Robinson and late Collyers within and held of the said Manor with the appurtenances by the yearly rent of two pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed Died since the last Court thereof seized Whereupon an Heriot to wit the best live Beast of the said Henry Hill became due to the Lord of this Manor but that none was seized he having no live Animal at the time of his decease.
The Homage also present that James Hill is the eldest Son and Heir according to the custom of this Manor of the said Henry Hill who is an Infant under the age of twenty one years to wit of the age of seven years or thereabouts

Now at this Court the first proclamation was made for the said James Hill or any other person or persons who hath or have a right to be admitted to the said Copyhold Messuage or Tenement with the Garden thereto belonging with the appurtenances which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Henry Hill to come into Court and take the same out of the hands of the Lord of this Manor but no one came Whereupon the first proclamation and default are here inrolled.

Death of Thomas Turner
The Homage also present that Thomas Turner one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor who held to him and his heirs by Copy of Court at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor All that one acre of Land lying (in two several pieces) in the Common field called Burcroft within  this Manor by the yearly rent of two pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs And also all that one Acre of Land lying in the Common field called Widecroft abutting on the Land now or late of Mrs Geale on the south part to Land now or late of William Eacott on the North and to the inclosed Land now or late of James Loveland on the West and east with the appurtenances by the yearly apportioned rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs Died since the last Court thereof seized Whereupon two Heriots to wit the two best live Beasts of the said Thomas Turner became due to the Lord of this Manor but that none were seized he not having any live Animal at the time of his decease.
His Will
And the Homage further present that the said Thomas Turner duly made and published his last Will and Testament in Writing bearing date the twenty ninth day of January one thousand eight hundred and forty four (the probate whereof was produced and read in open Court) whereby he gave and devised as follows “I give and devise unto my Brother Joshua Turner and his heirs all that my Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Land and premises situate within and held of the Manor of Chobham in the said County of Surrey and also all those my two acres of Copyhold Land situate within and held of the Manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey and also all other my real estate whatsoever and wheresoever To hold the same with the appurtenances unto my said Brother Joshua Turner his heirs and assigns for ever”

Admittance of Joshua Turner
Now at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Joshua Turner and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one Acre of Land lying (in two several pieces) in the Common field called Burcroft within this Manor Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Thomas Turner To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Joshua Turner his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£2 4s] and his fealty was respited
Admittance of the same
Also at this Court upon the first Proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Joshua Turner and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one Acre of Land lying in the Common field called Widecroft with the appurtenances Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said Thomas Turner To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid Granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Joshua Turner his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£2 6s] and his fealty was respited
