At this Court came here into Court in his Proper Person William Wallden late of Horsell in the County of Surrey Farmer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenant of this Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the aforesaid Steward and according to the Custom of the said Manor All that parcel of Copyhold Land called Wheat Leaz with the appurtenances containing by estimation ten acres more or less situate lying and being in the parish of Bisley and within the Manor aforesaid To the only use and behoof of Thomas Sago of Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer his Heirs and Assigns for ever Whereupon the said Thomas Sago being present here in Court in his proper person prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said Land called Wheat Leaz with the Appurtenances To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Thomas Sago his Heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one shilling Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so the said Thomas Sago was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a Fine for this and another admittance as appears in the Margin [£13 10s] and his Fealty was respited.
Also at this Court came here into Court in his Proper Person William Woods the Elder one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenant of this Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor One Messuage with the Appurtenances at Gateshed End with the Barn Garden Orchard and about one acre and an half of Land to the same adjoining and belonging lying and being within this Manor heretofore in the occupation of Thomas May To the only Use and behoof of the said Thomas Sago his Heirs and assigns for ever Whereupon the said Thomas Sago being present in Court in his proper person prayed to be admitted tenant to the said Messuage and Premises with the Appurtenances To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Thomas Sago his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of four pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a Fine on such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£6] and his Fealty was respited.
And again at this Court came into Court in his proper person the said William Woods the elder and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the aforesaid Steward and according to the Custom of the said Manor One Cottage and a quarter of an acre of Land with the appurtenances in Bisley within this Manor late Richard Freelands To the only use and behoof of the said Thomas Sago his Heirs and assigns for ever Whereupon the said Thomas Sago being present here in Court in his proper person prayed to be admitted tenant to the said Cottage and Land with the Appurtenances To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Thomas Sago his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one penny Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid and the Fine for such his admittance was through favor of the Lord set at five shillings only which the said Thomas Sago paid in Court and his Fealty was respited.
And immediately after such his said several admittances came again here into Court in his proper person the said Thomas Sago and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the aforesaid Steward and according to the Custom of the said Manor All that the said Parcel of Copyhold Land called Wheat Leaz with the appurtenances containing by estimation ten acres more or less Also all that the said Messuage with the appurtenances late Richard Freelands to the use and behoof of James Mersh of Wokeing in the County of Surrey Farmer his Heirs and Assigns for ever Under and Subject to a proviso or condition nevertheless to void and of no effect if the said Thomas Sago his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Mersh his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of three hundred pounds together with lawful interest for the same on the first day of October next ensuing the making the same Surrender.
[Margin note: Be it remembered that on the twentieth day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty two John Mersh and William Mersh the Sons and Executors named in the Will of James Mersh in this Surrender named did acknowledge that they had that day had and received of and from William Smith (in whom the Premises mentioned in this Surrender had then become vested) All Principal and Interest Monies and all demands due on this Surrender And the said John Mersh and William Mersh did by Writing under their hands of that date authorize and empower the Steward of the said Manor to enter their acknowledgement of having received the same and such satisfaction on the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly. And also at this Court came here into Court in his proper person William Wallden late of Horsell in the County of Surrey Farmer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor and surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid and according to the Custom of the said Manor All that one Close of Land containing by estimation two acres more or less called or known by the name of Loompitts Close or Brick kiln Close situate lying and being in the parish of Bisley and within this Manor To the only use and behoof of Stephen Stepto of the parish of Bisley aforesaid Thatcher his Heirs and assigns for ever Whereupon the said Stephen Stepto being present here in Court in his proper person prayed to be admitted Tenant to the said Close of Land with the Appurtenances To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the Rod To hold to the said Stephen Stepto his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence Heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and Customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and so the said Stephen Stepto was admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid and Gave to the Lord for a Fine on such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£2 2s] and his Fealty was respited.
