The Homage present a certain Surrender taken out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the ninth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and ninety two whereby James Stimson and Sarah his Wife who personally came before Thomas Sibthorpe Gent Steward of the said Manor (and the said Sarah having been examined apart from her said Husband and thereto consenting) did Surrender by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward according to the according to the custom of the said Manor into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor All that piece of Land containing by Estimation One Acre more or less lying and being within the said Manor abutting towards the South on the Hedge there and towards the North on Land of Sarah Sibthorpe and bounded on the East by Land of James Nesmith and on the West by Land of Hammond And all their and each of their Estate Right Title and Interest therein and thereto To the only proper Use and Behoof of William Eacott of Chobham in the said County of Surrey Yeoman his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to or for no other Use Intent or Purpose whatsoever Whereupon at this Court upon the first proclamation came into Court in his proper person the said William Eacott and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Premises in Pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of this Manor by his said Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said William Eacott his heirs and Assigns forever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [-] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
The Homage also present that George Gosden late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Manor All that Customary Messuage or Tenement One Garden One Barn and One Stable with the Appurtenances in Bisley Green within the said Manor and three quarters of an Acre of Land there and four Acres of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field called Widecroft heretofore the Messuage and Lands of John Cobbett and Elizabeth his Wife And also one other acre of Land with the Appurtenances lying in the Common Field aforesaid And one acre of Land lying in the Common Field called Burcroft And Once acre of Meadow lying in the Common Mead called Westburn Mead with their and every of their Appurtenances sometime Roger Cobbetts and since the Estate of William Hewitt and formerly in the Tenure or Occupation of Absalom Knight Died since the last General Court Seized thereof And that Isaac Gosden is his eldest Son and Heir at Law And that an Heriot was seized on his death and compounded for Whereupon at this Court the first Proclamation is made If the said Isaac Gosden or any other person or person you hath or have a right to be admitted to the said premises would come into Court and take the same out of the Lords hands he she or they should be heard But nobody came whereupon the first proclamation and Default are here inrolled.
The Homage also present that Alexander Dover late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor who held to him and his Heirs by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Manor All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Barn Yard Outhouses workhouses Gardens Orchards and Backsides thereunto belonging together with a Close of Arable Land thereto adjoining containing by Estimation One acre more or less heretofore in the Occupation of William Taylor Died since the last Court Seized thereof And that an Heriot was seized on his death and compounded for And that Thomas Dover of Rotherhithe in the County of Surrey Miller is his Nephew and Heir at Law according to the custom of this Manor Whereupon at this Court upon the first Proclamation came into Court in his proper person the said Thomas Dover and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Premises which came into the Lords hands on the death of the said Alexander Dover To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Steward granted the same To hold to him the said Thomas Dover his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [-] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
And immediately after the admittance of the said Thomas Dover he the said Thomas Dover being still present in Court in his proper person Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Barn Yard Outhouses workhouses Gardens Orchards and Backsides thereunto belonging together with a Close of Arable Land thereto adjoining containing by Estimation One acre more or less heretofore in the Occupation of William Taylor to which he had just before been admitted To the only proper Use and Behoof of Stephen Steptoe of Horsel in the County of Surrey Thatcher and of his Heirs according to the custom of this Manor And to or for no other Use Intent or Purpose Whatsoever Whereupon at this Court came into Court in his proper person the said Stephen Steptoe and humbly prayed to be admitted to the said Premises in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of this Manor by the said Steward Granted the same To hold to him the said Stephen Steptoe his Heirs and Assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the yearly Rent of ______ Heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Customs and Services therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such his Admittance as appears in the Margin [-] He is admitted Tenant thereof hath Seizin by the Rod and his Fealty is respited.
At this Court came into Court in his proper person Samuel Suddeby one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of this Manor and Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of this Manor by the Acceptance of the said Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All the Estate Right Title Benefit and Equity of Redemption of him the said Samuel Suddeby of in to and out of All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement with the Garden thereto belonging containing by Estimation One rood formerly belonging to Blanch Wisdom afterwards to John Robinson since to Sarah Collyer and Late to Sarah the Wife of Henry Collyer To the Use and Behoof of James Stovold his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the Custom of this Manor Provided always nevertheless if the said Samuel Suddeby his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Stovold his Executors Administrators or Assigns the full and just Sum of Five pounds (over and above the Sum of Ten pounds mentioned in a former Surrender) Together with Interest for the same Sum of Five pounds from henceforth at the rate of Five pounds for a hundred pounds for a year of lawful money of Great Britain upon the twenty fourth day of October next ensuing the date hereof Then this Surrender to be void and of no Effect.
