A Private Court Baron of Abel Walter Esq.r there held the Seventeenth Day of April 1739 in the Twelfth year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the Second by Henry Walter Steward there

At this Court the Homage present that John Marter of Purbright of in the said County of Surry one of the Copyhold Tennants of this Mannor out of Court and since the last Court to wit on the Sixth day of March last Did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of this Mannor by the Acceptance of Henry Whitwell & James Towers two other Customary Tennants (in Cons of One Hundred pounds paid to him by his Son James Marter) All that Copyhold Messe or Tenement called Radsells Grove with the Barn Buildings Orchards Gardens & all the Land thereto belonging with the Appurts Cont by Estim Five Acres more or less Situate lying & being in Bisley af.d and now in the Occupation of John Smith To the use and Behoofe of the said James Marter his Heirs & assigns for ever  And the said James Marter being now present in Court prayed to be admitted to the afsd premes with the Appurts To whom the Lord by his Steward af.d Hath granted the premes af.d wth the Appurts To Have and to Hold to the said James Marter his Heirs & Ass.s for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of this Mannor by the Rents Customs & Services therefore formerly due & of Right accustomed and he gave to the Lord as a Fine for such Estate as appears in the Margin [£8 8s] and so he was admitted Tennant had Seizin by the Rod & did Fealty to the Lord.
