Conditional Surrender Mr James Bedford to Mess.rs Heath Wilkins and Dallen
Be it remembered that on the third day of June one thousand eight hundred and fifty James Bedford of Knaphill in the County of Surrey Grocer one of the Customary Tenants of the said Manor personally came before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Courts of the said Manor out of Court and in consideration of three hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to him the said James Bedford in hand paid by James Heath of Guildford in the County of Surrey Gentleman John Wilkins of the same place Coalmerchant and Caroline Dallen of Stamford Grove Upper Clayton in the County of Middlesex Spinster at or immediately before the making of this Surrender Hath Surrendered and Doth Surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the rod and by the acceptance of the said Steward and according to the custom of the said Manor All that one Messuage or Tenement and three closes of Land containing by Estimation two acres more or less formerly in the possession of Henry Hayward Whereto the said James Bedford was admitted tenant at a Court Baron held for the said Manor on the sixteenth day of May now last past on the death of Joseph Bedford  And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of the same hereditaments and premises and of every part thereof And all the Estate right title use trust property possession claim and demand whatsoever of him the said James Bedford of in to or out of the same premises and every or any part thereof  To the use and Behoof of the said James Heath John Wilkins and Caroline Dallen their heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor. Subject nevertheless to the proviso or condition hereinafter contained (that is to say) Provided always and upon this condition nevertheless that if the said James Bedford his heirs executors administrators or assigns or ant or either of them do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Heath John Wilkins and Caroline Dallen their executors administrators or assigns the full sum of Three hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency being the same principal money as is secured or intended to be secured by a certain Mortgage or Conditional Surrender of Certain copyhold premises holden of the Manor of Pyrford in the County of Surrey made by the said James Bedford to the said James Heath John Wilkins and Caroline Dallen on the day of the date hereof with Interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for every one hundred pounds for a year upon the third day of December now next ensuing without fraud or delay and without making any deduction or abatement out of the same for or on account of any manner of taxes payments or impositions or any other matter cause or thing whatsoever then this Surrender to be void and of no effect or otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue  James Bedford ~ This Surrender was taken the day and year first above written by the acceptance of me Joseph Hockley Steward  In the presence of Edw.d Cha.s Quilley.  Received the day and year first above written of and from the above named James Heath John Wilkins and Caroline Dallen the sum of Three hundred pounds being the consideration money above mentioned to be paid by them to me £300  James Bedford  Witness Edw.d Cha.s Quilley
[Margin note:  Be it remembered that on the second day of January One thousand eight hundred and sixty two Henry Jeffery and Caroline his Wife which said Caroline was formerly Caroline Dallen in this surrender named (and the survivor of James Heath and John Wilkins in this surrender also named) did acknowledge that they had that day been paid and satisfied All Principal and interest due and owing upon and by virtue of this Surrender And the said Henry Jeffery and Caroline his Wife did by writing under their hands of that date authorize and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter this their acknowledgement of having received such satisfaction upon the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly.
