At a Special Court Baron of The Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor held for the said Manor on Saturday the twenty ninth day of May and in the Twenty first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty Eight Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward there.

 

Death of Abraham Honner

At this Court came here into Court Harden Honnor of Laleham in the County of Middlesex Farmer one of the Grandchildren of Arthur Harden whose Will was produced at a General Court Baron held for this manor on the twenty fourth day of October one thousand eight hundred and thirty three and informed the said Steward that Abraham Honnor in such Will named departed this life intestate and unmarried previous to the decease of the said Testators daughter Harriett Honnor (whose death was presented at the last General Court Baron held for this manor on the twenty first day of May) he having first attained the age of twenty one years and that the said Harden Honnor was the only Brother and heir at Law of the said Abraham Honnor deceased

 

Death of Ann Honner

And again at this Court came again into Court the said Harden Honnor and informed the said Steward that Ann Honnor also one of the Grandchildren named in the Will of the said Arthur Harden departed this life unmarried and intestate previous to the decease of the said Testators daughter the said Harriett Honnor she the said Ann Honnor having first attained the age of twenty one years and that he the said Harden Honnor was the only Brother at heir at Law of the said Ann Honnor deceased

 

Death of Harriett Honner

And at this Court came again into Court the said Harden Honnor and informed the said Steward that Harriett Honnor also one of the Grandchildren named in the said Will of the said Arthur Harden departed this life unmarried in the life time of the said Testators daughter Harriett Honnor her mother she the said Harriett Honnor the Grandchild having first duly made and published her last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the twenty fifth of April one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine the probate whereof was produced and read in open Court whereby she devised as follows “I give devise and bequeath all my Estate Right and Interest under the respective Wills of my late Grandfather and Father and all and every other my Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever both real and personal whether in possession reversion remainder or expectancy unto and to the absolute use of my dear Mother Harriett Honnor her heirs executors administrators and assigns”

And at this Court came here again into Court the said Harden Honnor and produced the last Will and Testament of the said Harriett Honnor the Mother bearing date the sixteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and forty nine whereby she devised (after the decease of her said daughter Ann Honnor without lawful issue) as follows “I give devise and bequeath all my Worldly Estate both real and personal and of whatsoever nature or kind unto my said Son Harden Honnor absolutely”

 

Admittance of Harden Honner

Now at this Court upon the second proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Harden Honnor and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one undivided fourth part or share of and in All that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement with all the lands to the same belonging in Bisley aforesaid [Margin note: ???? ???? sold for £610 ?????   £50 ???     ???? £10] which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of Harriett Honnor and daughter of said Testator Arthur Harden To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Harden Honnor his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of one half penny heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£5 10s] and his fealty was respited.

Admission of the same

Also at this Court upon the second proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Harden Honnor and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that one undivided fourth part or share of and in All that one parcel of Customary Heathy Lands called Feets containing by estimation three acres more or less with the appurtenances lying in Bisley aforesaid which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of Harriett Honnor the daughter of said Testator Arthur Harden To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Harden Honnor his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of two pence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£2] and his fealty was respited.

Absolute Surrender James Bedford to Thomas Waterer

At this Court came here into Court in in his proper person James Bedford of Knaphill in the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Grocer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said manor and in consideration of the Sum of One hundred and fifty Pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland of English value and currency to him paid by Thomas Waterer of Knaphill in the County of Surrey Farmer Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid according to the Custom of the said Manor All that piece or parcel of arable land containing by admeasurement four acres and three roods be the same more or less lying in the parish and manor of Bisley in the County of Surrey abutting on the highway leading from Guildford to Bagshot on the East and on the freehold land formerly sold by John Knowls and James Stedman to John Deacon on the North and which said piece or parcel of land is part and parcel of premises described on the Court Rolls of the said Manor as “all those Copyhold lands Stable Meadow and Pasture with the appurtenances containing by estimation nineteen acres more or less in the parish of Bisley” and now known by the name of Hen and Chicken field To the only proper and absolute use and Behoof of the said Thomas Waterer his heirs and assigns for ever

 

Admittance of Thomas Waterer

Now at this Court upon the first proclamation came here into Court in his proper person the said Thomas Waterer and humbly prayed to be admitted Tenant to All that that the before mentioned premises in pursuance of the said Surrender To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod  To hold to the said Thomas Waterer his heirs and assigns for ever by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly apportioned rent of one shilling heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£5] and his fealty was respited.

 

Conditional Surrender James Bedford to Thomas Hockley

At this Court came here into Court in in his proper person James Bedford of Knaphill in the parish of Woking in the County of Surrey Grocer one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said manor and in consideration of the Sum of Three hundred pounds of lawful consideration of the Sum of Sixty Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to him paid by Thomas Hockley of Thorley Vicarage in the Isle of Wight Clerk Surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod and by the acceptance of the Steward aforesaid according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Copyhold Close or parcel of Arable land Situate at Bisley aforesaid containing by estimation five acres and seven perches more or less late in the occupation of Joseph Bedford afterwards of Stephen Steptoe and now of James Hill Stephen Steptoe and himself the said James Bedford together with the Messuage or Tenement thereon erected and built and now in the occupation of James Hill to which premises the said James Bedford was admitted Tenant at a Court held in and for the said Manor on the thirtieth day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty one with the appurtenances  And also all that Copyhold Messuage or Tenement called Radsells Grove with the Barn buildings Orchards Gardens and all the lands thereto belonging with the appurtenances containing by estimation five acres more or less in the parish of Bisley late in the occupation of William Slaughter and since of John Hill that is to say the South end of the said Messuage the Garden before the Orchard behind it half the Barn the West end half of the Yard and four plots of ground one against the house two below that and one against the Common Southward containing about two acres and an half more or less to which premises the said James Bedford was admitted at a Court held for this manor on the twenty third day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty nine To the use and behoof of the said Thomas Hockley his heirs and assigns for ever Upon Condition nevertheless to be void if the said James Bedford his heirs executors administrators or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Thomas Hockley his executors administrators or assigns the full sum of Three hundred pounds together with Interest for the same after the rate of five pounds for one hundred pounds for a year of lawful money aforesaid on the twenty ninth day of November next ensuing   

[Margin notes:  Be it remembered that on the twenty third day of February one thousand eight hundred and sixty one Thomas Hockley in this surrender named did acknowledge that he had that day been paid the sum of two hundred and eight five pounds in part discharge of the sum of Three hundred pounds and Interest in this Surrender mentioned And the said Thomas Hockley did by writing under his hand of that date authorise and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter his acknowledgement of having received the same on the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly and to discharge the Copyhold close or parcel of arable land situate at Bisley containing by estimation five acres and seven perches more or less with the Messuage or Tenement thereon erected and built (as in this Surrender mentioned) of and from the payment by James Bedford herein named of the said sum of Three hundred pounds and Interest  Witness my hand Joseph Hockley

Be it remembered that on the third day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty two Thomas Hockley in this surrender named did acknowledge that he had that day been paid and satisfied All principal and Interest monies and all demands due and owing upon and by virtue of  this Surrender And the said Thomas Hockley did by writing under his hand of that date authorise and empower the Steward of this Manor to enter this his acknowledgement of having received the same on the Court Rolls or Books of the said Manor accordingly  Witness my hand Joseph Hockley]
