At a Special Court Baron of the Right Honorable Arthur George Earl of Onslow Lord of the said Manor there held for the said Manor on Monday the nineteenth day of July in the eleventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven Before Joseph Hockley Gentleman Steward of the Courts of the said Manor.
Death of Geo. James Shrubb
At this Court came here into Court in his proper person The Reverend Charles Shrubb and informed the said Steward that George James Shrubb late one of the Copyhold or Customary Tenants of the said Manor who held to him and the heirs of his body by Copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor All that parcel of land with the appurtenances called Marcies or by any other name lying and being within the said Manor and containing by estimation two acres more or less by the yearly rent of six pence heriot when it shall happen suit of Court and other services and customs died since the last Court seized thereof unmarried and without issue and that the same premises thereupon descended to the said Charles Shrubb as the heir of the body of John Peyto Shrubb his late father deceased who was admitted to the said premises on the twenty second day of October One thousand seven hundred and seventy three the said Charles Shrubb being the second son of the said John Peyto Shrubb
Admittance of Charles Shrubb
And thereupon the said Charles Shrubb humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to the said parcel of land called Marcies Which came into the hands of the Lord of this Manor on the death of the said George James Shrubb To whom the Lord of the Manor aforesaid by his Steward aforesaid granted the same and delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Charles Shrubb and the heirs of his body by copy of Court Roll at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rent of six pence heriot when it shall happen Suit of Court and other Services and customs therefore formerly due and of right accustomed And so he was admitted tenant thereof in form aforesaid Gave to the Lord as a fine for such his admittance as appears in the Margin [£12 14s] and his fealty was respited.
