Biography:
Frederick William George Knott was born in Woking, Surrey, on 27 July 1880. He was the
son and fifth child of Frederick George, a carpenter, and Annie (née Smith). He had three
brothers and five sisters.

After leaving school, Frederick worked as an attendant at Brookwood Hospital.

In June 1908, Frederick married Jane Rolf; they had three sons. They lived in Knaphill.

Frederick William George Knott died, in Sheerness Military Hospital, on 12 November
1918, from septic pneumonia.

Although not commemorated on the war memorial, Frederick is buried in a CWGC grave
within St John’s Cemetery, Woking.

Frederick is commemorated on the memorial in Woking town square, the memorial tablet
within Woking Christ Church, the memorial tablet within Knaphill Holy Trinity Church,
and the memorial tablet from Brookwood Hospital.
